It was OTT alright. However, the standard at CCC level is terrible compared to the Premier League. I hope to Christ we don't go back there for a long time to come!

Agreed. People seem to have it in for the lad. His hold up play is excellent. Unfortunately he ain't the poacher QPR FC has been lacking for years now.

Perhaps if Campbell started alongside him or he got more support from Tarbs it might yield more goals?

I certainly agree he was made much more ineffective by being alone up front. NW didn't seem to recognize that however and took him off before trying out a 4-4-2. You can't help thinking that a Bothroyd/Cambell combination is worth a try although NW's problem is presumbly working out who to leave out from midfield. Having said that, I still think a striker is there to score goals (particularly a lone striker) and having missed 6-7 good chances in the last two home games Bothroyd can't possibly rate highly.

Bothroyd is a welcome squad member but he looks cumbersome in the box - and at 29 he ain't gonna get any quicker. If we can use Campbell right, he could be our 20 goals a season man. Can't see Mackie doing that on his return

That's a fair point. He should easily be off the mark by now.

Guys, i have to say that we may be waiting for another 15 years for a 20 goal a season man. How many strickers score 20 goals a season? The answer is very few and those that do are at Utd, City, Arsenal and the Pool. The only exception is Bent at AV. We need to stop kidding ourselves, we may never have a Prem quality 20 goal player. Instead we need two men up front who can score 10-12 goals each. Thats far more realistic. If two more of our midfielders (Tarbs &SWP) can score 10 each we will be ok. Look at the bottom ten clubs in the Prem for the last few years and see how many had strickers who can score 15 goals let alone 20. Considering my point i think that both DJ and Jay are capable of scoring the required 10-12 goals. Think they should both play at home or one with HH.

I think HH looked really sharp when he came on yesterday, his clever runs and lay-offs caused problems and he put in the cross that ended up in the net. Bothroyd worked hard for little reward as he has done in most games this season, I still think he'll start at Fulham but I think if he doesn't break his duck in that game we may change against Chelsea, HH with DJ would be interesting but I feel 4-2-3-1 is here to stay...

Can't see where Tarbs would play in a 4-4-2!! It's a real conundrum imo. Trouble with Betty is that the slick passing movements slow down when he gets it as he always wants to linger on the ball instead of playing the obvious pass quickly and keeping the move going!! Maybe we could just swap Cambell for Betty and keep the ball even more on the ground. Alternatively I wouldn't mind seeing Cambell as one of the wide players in the 3 behind Betty or HH. This would mean leaving Derry out and playing Barton deeper.
