Nah it had to be. It's one of the first instructions given to defenders in kids football. Once the ball is cleared, push the f*ck up. So to not do it, is a clear tactic, as it goes against instinct. DD is crap but it might actually help him if the defence and midfield played higher up, as he wouldn't always be so isolated, and feeding off scraps.

I don't disagree, and I'd like to see him get out on loan somewhere or play to confidence in the U21s. There may still be a player in there we can use.
