The Quarter-final line ups and odds... S. Hendry.............. 9/1 v S. Maguire............ 5/1 J. Jones................ 20/1 v A. Carter.............. 7/1 R. O'Sullivan........... 15/8 v N. Robertson......... 10/3 R. Day................... 20/1 v M. Stevens........... 12/1 Day 11... So manners maketh man... Or so Ali Carter has said about Trump... Judd got what he deserved in the end as potting your way out of trouble is the hardest way to win. Carter to be fair played as solid as ive seen him for a long time and deserves all the praise he gets coming back from 12-9 down... So the table manners of the quarter-finalists had better shape up as this is where you can almost see the final and the date that you saved in your diary. With Trump going out the top half has become very open and other than Jamie Jones you couldnt rule out any of the other 3 getting to the final. The bottom half seems to be a straight shoot out between Ronnie and Robbie one which i think the eventual winner will come from... 10.00... Stevens to beat Day... 13-9... Maguire to beat Hendry... 13-10... 2.00... Carter to beat Jones... 13-8... Robertson to beat O'Sullivan... 13-11... 7.00... Maguire v Hendry... 2nd session... Stevens v Day... 2nd session...
Day 12... So another ex-World champion was beaten yesterday but this was just not a one off world champion but a 7 times World Champion. Stephen Hendry retires from the game and leaves with a lorry load of titles and records to his name. Stephen made his decision to leave the snooker world about 3 months ago, though this was kept very much under wraps by him, and i doubt that he would have liked to gone out with such a whimper... A 13-2 scoreline in your last ever tournament isnt a good way to go out but im sure he will take solace in the 7 World Titles attached to his name... Congratulations must go to Maguire and he will be a formidable opponent in the semi-finals. Ronnie and Robbo are the only ex-champions left in this years world championships so it is still very much up for grabs for anyone trying to get their name on the trophy for the first time... Matthew Stevens gave himself a great boost going froward as he took all 9 frames yesterday to put him firmly in control against Ryan Day... 10.00... Stevens v Day... to a finish... 11-5... Jones v Carter... 2nd session... 3-5 2.30... O'Sullivan v Robertson... 2nd session... 3-5 7.00... Jones v Carter to a finish... O'Sullivan v Robertson to a finish...
