No surprises for guessing who was behind the decision to hire/promote Ramsey then. Flipping this round, is it unfair to suggest that Ramsey got the job because he is black? Proving a point?
what is the percentage of black people in the uk what is the percentage of black players in uk football (or the premiership anyway) how many black players do we have are everton still held up as an example of racist attitudes why on re reading what I am about to post am I glad queens has been banned
Around 13% of the UK population is non 'white' ('white' would include non British 'white' people - Europeans, Aussies, Kiwis etc). 3% are defined as 'black', 1.2% 'mixed race'. Across the 4 English leagues about 25% of players are 'black'. As of now there are 5 'black' coaches in the 4 leagues. Looks to me that 11 of our squad are 'black'/'mixed race'. Never heard of Everton's reputation. Your point is?
I've given myself 24 hours to think about this before saying anything. Not sure I'm comfortable with a Rooney Rule. I think it might undermine the whole argument. Any black manager would then be open to the, he only got the job because of the rooney rule. I do however think that there is an issue to be looked at. Just not sure a rooney rule is the way to go.
Just wanted to ask if there is any stats that show if the rooney rule has actually made a difference. That's another question.
He is just stating the fact that percentage wise, black people hugely outnumber white people in the game. And yet people like Clark Carlisle, Garth Crooks, Les Ferdinand, Paul Ince, Jason Roberts are saying nearly every week how hard done by they are. Paul Ince has managed 6 clubs and failed every time, but has still said that black coaches do not get a fair chance. TF has let 2 England coaches go, (Hoddle and McClaren) and left us with Ferdinand, Ramsey and Bond. Totally clueless and we will probably finish bottom now. I actually think we have played better football under Ramsey than Harry, but results are what matter and we are as good as down.
I think that my point was that 5% of managers right now being black is not too bad with the amount of black players plying their trade now in 10 20 years it should be much higher will les then feel the need to make pronouncements about the lack of female or Asian managers obviously does not have enough work to do to keep himself busy
Anyone can use the stats to support any argument they want. I wouldn't have a bash at Les for this though, even though I don't think his appointment will improve the club. All of these quotes are taken from an interview he did for a TV programme by Treveor Phillips the Race Equality bloke (who is actually saying some interesting stuff about us being too uptight about race at the moment). He was presumably invited as the only black Director of Football in the country and was simply answering questions honestly. Of course his responses are then plastered everywhere by lazy journos.
