MARK Hughes hopes QPR's crop of talented youngsters can break into the first team this season.

The likes of Michael Doughty, Max Ehmer and Michael Harriman have been training with the senior players all summer and were included on the recent trips to Asia and Germany.

Boss Hughes admits the young guns did better than expected, and hopes they can continue improving into the new campaign.

He said: “They’ve done really well – that’s been another bonus.

“We took them, in fairness, just to expose them to the senior group and see how they dealt with it.

“They’ve probably played a lot better than I expected, which is a good sign because it shows that they can step up. When they’ve got good players around them they look good players themselves.

“We want to see young players coming through the ranks because then our fans will have a special affinity to those.

“I’d like to think we can see more of them throughout the season. They’re young lads and can supplement the 25, so they’re certainly there or thereabouts.”

I would they would play the cup matches and maybe get a spot on the bench here and there.

Its great theyve got a chance as its been a long time since that happened.
 
In fairness, Sparky does use the phrase 'in fairness' in every other sentence.
 
This is good news. Theere is also an article on the officail with Bircham saying Mo Shariff is doing very well.
 
I'd like to see one or two loans to Championship teams that will give them plenty of first team football (might have to be struggling one mind you) - competitive and a great stepping stone.

Alternatively, we could help out Portsmouth and give a load of youngster a chance to bond and grow (perhaps a bit callous - sorry).
 
Should have kept German he definitely had the talent to step up as did Andrade but we released both?

QPR youngsters net new deals

Queens Park Rangers have offered several of their young players new contracts at the club, after securing their Premier League survival.

The Hoops have moved to secure the futures of Angelo Balanta, Michael Harriman, Aaron Lennox, Taylor Parmenter and Bruno Andrade.

But 19-year-old defender Luke Olley will not be offered a new deal, and goalkeeper Elvijs Putnins, who made some appearances on the bench this season, has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.
