I thought we played pretty well. As McClaren and Lumley said, apart from their lucky goal I don't remember Lumley needing to make a save. Our defensive set up was pretty good against PL opposition until he took Pav off. We also created some excellent chances, more than Watford, and Pav got in more decent crosses than all of them put together. Only negatives were our failure to finish, and the poor subs which ended the supply of crosses, and let Watford off the hook. The 3 5 2 works well for me, gives us 3 CD's which we need as our record with 2 and without Cameron shows, Pav is an excellent wing back, Bidwell less so, but the system also has the advantage of getting us 2 up front, and Freeman, Luongo and seemingly Cousins too in their best positions.
Agreed but there is the big issue You want the big money then it’s a risk everyone faces ... we are the perfect example of getting it wrong
If we're honest with ourselves for a second, that was our 'cup final'. At least the game that matters most all season. It's why we sold out quickly (v rare) and why the atmosphere was so good. Had we won, it would be a season to remember. 'That time we got to the QFs (or maybe SFs) of the FA cup.' Now the season fades into nothingnness. Nothing wrong with that imo, and it would have been our 'cup final' had we been playing Watford, Newport, Swansea or Man City.
To be absolutely honest it was an important game for us as well. Cup runs have not become such a habit for us in recent years and so a quarter final place is great. I don't think the Pozzo's realize how important the Cup can be for fans in this country - I would personally take a place in the Cup final even if we finished a couple of places lower in the league as a result, because you remember such a thing for your whole life. Despite all the hype about being in the Premiership we have never actually won anything.
Yup - you could tell both teams were up for it. Couldn't agree more with your point - why on earth would anyone want to finish 8th over 10th if 10th involved a cup final (or semi for that matter).
I wonder if there is such thing as a Deenyism…...you know, when someone stupid opens their mouth without their brain engaging?
But will SM actually be able to progress? The finances are still tight and will remain so until perhaps the new stadium kicks in ( chorus of derisory disbelief from some). It seems likely some of the first team will HAVE to be sold. Our first team will be the youth out on loan now. I'm not at all worried about relegatìpn got this season but next is a different story. Couldn't be there last night but I'm glad we acquitted ourselves well.
Unless we play fifth round games every week at home would a bigger stadium be helping us out much in way of cash flow How much extra income would 10000 extra seats bring How often is the one we have now sold out
Agree **** the stupid idea of a new ground Re vamp Loftus Road you could get it to 20k That’s enough Imo
Given the council's comments last week maybe the club should submit a planning application for loftus road and see what the council's reaction is.....
You guys were unlucky and played well . If anything the subs made stopped your momentum but still had time to miss the best chance Good luck for the rest of the season ..
Well if Deeney thinks it was a cup final maybe explains our lack of performance! Had a few poor ones in big games when he has been with us. Palace x 2 and when we blew automatic promotion and even when we went up the chance to win the title! (At the time a bit frustrating as Bournemouth fans never tire of reminding us..)
