I don't know, on playing ability alone we miss Kane's crossing. About 5 decent ones out of 20 attempts from him is still better than about 2 out of 5 which was about what our whole 11 managed Tuesday. He took a lot of their corners too, many of which were ok and one was banged in the corner of our goal. I'd have taken back Freeman too, perhaps not now.
I don't think alot of thought has gone into this window from us, we knew where we wanted to strengthen yet didn't really evaluate who to get. We earmarked Cook and thought it was a done deal, however when Forest gazumped us we became panicky and quickly went after the 2 Fulham players who we must've known they weren't gonna let go. Then onto the Birmingham ex Brentford lad who's wages are more than Dickie's apparently and finally onto the Wolves youngster on loan. The number 10 replacement is worse, seriously , after Lawrence but Bournemouth and a host of Premier league clubs are interested so we've no hope of outbidding them for him. If not him then Patterson from Swansea who would reluctantly let him go for the right money. Brom have wanted him for a while so are we realistically gonna outbid them either ? Surely we had a player in mind who we realistically thought we could get ? Unlike our 2 previous windows where we did our business quickly and quietly this one seems to have been broadcast everywhere and other clubs have nipped in and outgunned us. Just seems we've not prepared aswell for this one, maybe we thought we weren't gonna be doing as well as we are and didn't invest as much time in it as we should've. Time left yet, and hopefully we find a goodun that isn't a last minute rush job !
Are you seriously suggesting that Warburton and his staff haven't put a lot of thought into it? We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.
Absolutely...you may be right about Cook....but we always had others in mind. Sanderson on paper looks excellent from what I have heard...and capable of playing WB as well... better than Cook ( and if it all goes Pete Tong, no oap on our books either). Let's see what happens about the midfielder...
This...... Plus we've only got 1 more league game without Seny and Ilias as it's the cup tie week after..... them coming back will be like 2 new signings........ no need for any knee jerk transactions....... we're nicely placed......
Agreed. Why do we need a new number 10 when we have one of the brightest in the league. If we ever purchase anyone then its either got to be better than what we have or is willing to play second fiddle for potential injuries and suspensions.
I can't help feeling what if Bright Samuel had stayed , I think he may have been the missing piece to our jigsaw .
Just going on the window so far, we thought we were getting Cook and didn't. I don't think tge Wolves defender was on our radar at all at tge start of tge window. The 2 number 10's are being pursued by clubs with alot more money to spend than us so where is the planning ? We've spent zero so far, I think if we had a clear plan it would've been like the previous 2 windows and our deals would've been done quickly and quietly. Just my take Col, it all looks a little unplanned
Trouble is we don't play with speedy wingers we use our wing backs. Seeing some speedy wingers bombing down the line putting in some lovely crosses would certainly be a lovely sight !
Strength in depth mate, you saw last night how we struggled to create chances against an average side in the league. 2 games every few days from now till end and with our injury record, a quality number 10 who scores goals wouldn't be turned away by me.
BOS was playing LWB for us before he went off to Turkey, and his defending was ok. He didn't get too many decent crosses in though, wanted to do it all himself.
