Fantastic result. Well done lads ... pleased that all the fans that went got to see us play as we can and got to see four goals for us and a clean sheet - you all deserved that! Might have to have a glass or two to celebrate.
Didn't we play them in the first game of our first season in the PL? And we lost badly which seemed to set the tone for that season. So, yes, we definitely owed them one!
You know those games (and we've had plenty of them) where you felt that even if a team played for another two hours they would not score? That was the Swans today. They huffed and puffed and did indeed have lots of possession and passing but the only stat that mattered was 4!
Had to beg and bribe my sons to accompany me today. We all came home happy! Great view of the first 3 goals from behind the Moroccan too! Crisis? What crisis?
I read there were some problems with delivery of stats today, both BBC and Sky were very late updating after HT I think.. Maybe that impacted the possession stats, certainly looked like we had more like 35/40% even with all their passing around at the back.
Had friends visiting so spent the afternoon walking around the centre of town...my phone kept on pinging and I'd look, smile and carry on showing them round. What a pleasant surprise all four of the 'pings' were.
Such fun! A proper battling performance against another side that thinks 'playing properly' means untold sideways passes before finally giving it away. I haven't seen the final statistics, but apparently they had 77% possession in the first half and went in three down! We didn't play brilliant football, but the commitment we showed was undeniable, particularly from the midfield three of Scowen, Luongo and Cousins. Luongo tackled like a demon, Cousins ran and harried tirelessly, and Scowen held it all together. Even Hemed had a good game. Today showed how poorly motivated we had become in recent weeks and why McClaren had to go. We'll be ok.
