This is what is worrying me the most, Warburton has become even more ****ing clueless lately. 2 up top is crippling us, and the hopeless wing backs are just topping it all off. Really apart from Chair and Adomah 2nd half v Blackburn, every other player hasn't scored above a 5 in the last 4 or 5 games. Worrying times, and we seem to be slipping further each game. I'm really not looking forward to Friday, Forest may have been Blitzed by Fulham but 4 wins from 5 before that under new manager. I think we'd struggle without tonight's game but now with the result and the tiredness in the legs I really fear the outcome. I'm expecting Dykes to be too ****ed to start
Fair play, but although both teams had chances to score I thought you were by far the better team. Never gave us the time we need to get our game going and Warburton too slow and too dumb to change things for the better ! I did tell you if Kakay and Odebajo played to get ready to celebrate. Weirdest thing of all was Warburton subbed off Kakay just after he'd had his best 10 mins of the season for us lol. Bizarre even by his standards
I actually came over for the match, yep felt like a week to put up the flag, ridiculous. 2 penalties into row z which is just strange...oh and build up play very slow but gray offered nothing even though dykes was winning every header, I'd almost play dykes with willock
We'll be fine if we get back to the championship. We see more of our style of football against the better teams and on the better pitches, the pitches in this league are shocking and stops us from playing the tactics you watched tonight with the high press and confidence on the ball that they all have. You looked weak down your right side and we exploited that quite often. Your left winger looked a decent player tonight and your centre backs held Stewart off all night, he's been banging them in this season but didn't really get a sniff tonight. You expecting to get in the play-offs, this season?
The way Austin and Gray are playing I think we have to consider bringing back the Bonnester if that’s even an option.
Why is everyone kicking off,it was 1-0 except for the professionals who get paid lots of money to make decisions, get over it, we are joint 5th, we will be in the play offs or in the bottom 3, it's the championship!
Because we were mostly outplayed by a weakened side from the league below which cost us a once in a generation or so quarter-final.
Think you are still living in a dream. We have just lost to Peterborough and Sunderland have a lot better squad
Outplayed? They looked hungry and pressed us really well, but I can't remember many (any?) clear cut chances for them. By contrast, we had the goal (wrongly ruled out), Austin's volley from Kakay cross which he should have done better with, Gray's header from 6 yards out which he decided to cushion backwards, and two decent chances at the end of the first half. They looked decent, but they didn't look like scoring from open play. I'd say we edged the game itself even though we were sub-par.
Well!! I must confess to looking at the odds tonight and taking the fact they were pretty similar to the Peterborough game as a bad omen. Alas, proved to be the case. Others have said we created nothing. I don't fully agree with that. Dykes had one shot - direct at goalie, Gray heading AWAY from the opposition goal was a chance of sorts and then, of course, the goal that should have been. Pretty lacklustre performance BUT we did win it only to be denied by a referreing / linesman decision that will certainly be recorded as one of the worst in recent footballing history. The penalties. Not worth discussing! A bad day at the office but NOT for QPR but Stroud and Co who should hang their heads in shame. Forest will be smelling blood in the water for Friday.
Absolutely. We were well below par, but still deserved to win the game in 90 minutes and would have done if it wasn't for the diabolical offside decision. Dieng did have to make good save from McGeady towards the end.
They missed an absolute sitter second half and looked the far comfortable side playing out and through midfield IMO.
Well we should mate with our squad but I don't have faith in Warburtons tactics or team selections. Our 2 wing backs you saw tonight are our weakest points, I don't rate either of them. Wallace has been out for over 2 months and is almost back and his back up Mccallum has been out till recently too. Willocl and Chair are quality players but we don't get them on the ball enough in dangerous areas, he's been playing Willock out of position lately to cover for no fit left back. Tonight was tge first game we didn't score in since last March ! So yiu did something right . Paid off the linesman by the look of it lol. I'd be seriously shocked if Sunderland didn't get promoted, think your a cert. We know all about League 1 opposition and pitches pal, we've had plenty of experience in years gone by ! Good luck for the rest of the season
I do actually remember one decent save from Seny in the second half now, down low to his right. Prob the same one you're talking about. They certainly looked better set up than we were, but I'd still say we had the better chances. Not outplayed in my book.
By my count, it wasn't just the stupid offside decision. It was also the fact that we had two strong penalty shouts. And a moment where Chair was bursting forward and was having his shirt tugged by a slow Sunderland defender, in PLAIN VIEW of the ref and linesman. And how De Wijs got a yellow for winning the ball and then about 15 mins later, one of their players did exactly what De Wijs did and got away away it. Anyway, anyone saying Sunderland were better than us and deserved it has got it wrong. The two teams lined themselves up in two totally different ways. Sunderland's setup was aimed at having 4 defenders behind the ball at all times and then trying to catch us out when we commit forward. We set up to push forwards in numbers and played a bit thin at the back at times in order to do so. My issue with our way of play, not just today but lately, is with how we put two strikers on who stick their hands up all the time asking for looped or ground through balls, and nothing comes. This is where Warburton is at fault. If you're going to put the two strikers on, you must be giving orders to your midfield about putting passes over or through. It's like he told the midfield NOT to do it. All we do is slowly build up and let opponents' defenders get back into shape. It feels like our team have been told to only pass forward when you're 100% sure it'll get to someone's feet. But football doesn't work like that; you've got to take chances.
