Lloyd hit the post...Celar missed the goal entirely for the penalty. Lloyd was much more engaged than Celar. His youthful enthusiasm will not be enough for a whole match though. We are going to have to do something a bit radical in the top third of the pitch. Our defence is ok when it is defending and concentrating. Morrison did well, Ashby had an OK game. Varane and Field (who is on 4 yellows) are OK. So how do we arrange the attacking 4. 1 winger ( seito and smyth a half each). An attacking midfielder or 2? (Andersen/ Madsen?).. Forward or 2? ( Celar,Lloyd Aoraha or Kolli) My top 4 would be Saito/ Andersen/ Kolli/ Lloyd) With Smyth and Aoraha to come at 60 minutes
Shows how light we are up front..... Lloyd, kolli & Aoraha have only a handful of 1st team appearances between them.... wishful thinking pinning our hopes on them..... best we can hope for is that we're still in touch of the 3 teams above us over the coming weeks and that Frey & Chair are fit enough for the Christmas games..... but again probably wishful thinking as is the hope that Celar might come good and become the 1 goal a season striker that we hoped we'd signed..... Sorry glass empty at the moment...
My glasses actually broken Tramore! I know...Kolli and Lloyd have both looked better than Celar . I am not pretending that they can do it for 90 minutes. But I have no other ideas...what ability Celar "may or may not" have will have been smashed out of him by now anyhow
He’s still more likely to do something than MADSEN though. I’m increasingly convinced that there is pressure on Cifuentes to play him. Celar not so sure, Frey always started ahead of him when fit.
Before he went off, he hit the front man with his corner, got the ball back and did the same thing. We got another corner ... MADSEN went off, Saito took the corner and we scored an equaliser.
He just didn't have enough strength left in his legs to lift the ball over the first man, granted, he had ambled over to take it.
Yeah, but players are routinely hooked for taking a bad corner, aren't they? Admittedly this one was particularly frustrating, but he'd had a good game up until then. My comparison to Fillery was an ironic one because I used to have disagreements with people around me about his qualities, or otherwise. I regarded Fillery in the same way the many now view Madsen.
Negative focus! The positive was his good forward passing which was central to our attacking play, especially 1st half, that resulted in our 23 attempts on goal, he must have fed Smyth for a good number of those. Sky stats had him with 4 key passes and 94.4% passing accuracy, best of all our starting 11. The negatives for me with Madsen were that he seemed to fade 2nd half, maybe tired which was why I thought he was subbed with Wednesday's game in mind. His corners were mostly landing in their box, an improvement on Chair and Paal, but could have used more zip in them.
Unfortunately, to date, the negatives far outweigh any positives regarding MADSEN. He really hasn't warranted a starting place in this team, that said, the majority haven't either. In fairness to MADSEN, he may aswell have passed it straight out of play than giving it to Smyth. Can get on with the game quicker then.
I think the realisation of the situation is that (a) the players aren't good enough (b) the manager refuses to adapt/flexible (c) the recruitment has actually made us a poorer side
