Seeing quite a few people say we were quite good or unlucky today. I just did not see that. Huffing and puffing with the ball a bit on the outside fringes of their box wasn't good play for me.

We didn't even try to dominate midfield.

Their goalkeeper's heart rate was always low. Couple shots in target straight into his hands.

On the other side, we had a number of nervy moments with trying to play the ball around in our own defensive fifth of the pitch.

When they went down to 10 men, we didn't get a sniff of the ball.

I'm not sure where we were particularly good today.

Thoroughly deserved win by a team who had a good game plan and acted it out very well.
It is because Dozzell is sh1te so nothing goes forwards from him

On three (at least) occasions Dunne sent perfect cross pitch crosses to the attacker on the other wing. Clark-Salter did similar......the distribution from the back I would not fault. Begovic also sent a couple of Ainsworth inspired hoofs down to Dykes, that he basically won and played on...

The play out from the back is not our main problem IMHO, it is our inability in the last 3rd to provide decent chances

Didn't play too bad but it's the same old same old, We have trouble trying to score. I don't think any of our so called strikers mustered a shot at goal between them. Did Kelman even touch the ball?

Agree about Dykes. At the same time, overall, so negative. Jimmy Dunne was more attacking than Dozzell...every time looking for a backwards pass, ideally all the way back to Begovic. Cifuentes was on the line frantically gesturing for the ball to go forward and players kept playing it safe.

That doesn't win us games, and ultimately we get punished, as we did today. I'd have shipped Dykes off at half time for Kelmann, and bought on Armstrong earlier.

As soon as those two get fit enough, and savvy enough to *pace themselves for a whole game we'll start seeing some end results to long sessions of possession and build up play.

Big January coming up, both on and off the pitch. All that said, I was fearing a thrashing today, so it was better than it could have been.

If only I can line up the hoops on those damned pillows Dozzell will do just fine, I must have had one out of alignment for Soton.

Merry Christmas everyone (and Dozzell) and wishing everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.

Our R's also have to get their act together so when I bring Wendy over for her maiden match she can witness a fine win, with a pre-match lunch & drinks at the Crowne & Sceptre and post match celebrations at the Coningham Arms with Irish R's!

Wendy is a sportswoman and at just turned 15 represented the Province of Nova Scotia in Solo Synchronized Swimming at the1971Canada Winter Games in Saskatoon, where they had to build a ski hill to accomodate winter activities on the flat prairies.

Because Dozzell, Field, Colback and EDB are about the only ready choices he's got for the midfield, and with Colback still out injured there's not much too consider there.

Realise we are 'short' in the midfield, but Dozzell is an absolute liability for the squad. His infantile errors continually get the team into trouble, surely? Pack him off somewhere, but the sooner the better. :(

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone! <cracker> <bubbly>
