We didn't win anything unfortunately But no of course can't complain, we don't have a midweek off until the end of November (If we lose to you) or mid January (If we win) Absolutely mental!!
That's a fair summary. We had three good chances in the first half, Asoro, Watmore and Kirchhoff all went close to scoring. Watmore should really have put his chance away. We looked good on the counter attack with Asoro and Watmore linking up well and running past their defenders.. QPR had a few headers that went just over the bar. Kirchhoff and Gooch seemed to lose the ball a lot, Denayer made a few mistakes and didn't defend that well but Djilobodji had a solid game alongside JOS. In the second half QPR went close with a shot into the side netting , McNair had a deflected shot cleared from under the bar. Then we gave away a corner when it should have been cleared and Sandro scored from the corner with a good volley. Moyes reacted quickly and made 3 subs at the same time Maja for Asoro, Cattermole for Gooch and Love for Denayer. We looked a lot better and played some good football with Catts on. NDong was all over the pitch and seemed to be always available on the right wing in loads of space, he put in some great crosses, controlled the ball really well and created some good chances. Paddy "he scores when he wants" McNair put away his chances and we managed to close out the game. Maja had a few good moments and linked up well with Watmore and NDong. We have some good young players - This season might turn out to be a lot better than I thought.
That is the price of success nowadays. My son who has been a MUFC supporter since the '70s gave up going to games at OT and away trips in Europe and he reckons he is saving about six grand a year. Mind he did travel from Yorkshire!.
Nice pass out wide from McNair for the second goal as well as a tidy finish. He should be confident next time we call on him in the prem.
Took both of his goals well, I thought. Based solely on the highlights I've seen so far, NDong seems to have carried on from Spurs, popping up all over the place and generally being a handful.
Bonus's from last night... Obvious boost in winning the game. McNair's double a definite bonus, Hugh boost for the lad. Kirchhoff gets another 90 minutes under his belt. Catts gets more game time as well. Moyes substitutions changed things in a positive way. N'Dong gets another game under his belt and looked a good player with lots of energy. More youngsters getting game time which has to be a good thing. We kept the ball better even though the opposition weren't premiership quality, we had no injury worries and the lads can look forward to Palace in a good frame of mind. Bring on the weekend.
Yeah he's not known for his goals but he can clearly finish, I didn't see the match but from the highlights you can see those attacking qualities in the lad. A 1-2 is one of the most basic attacking moves, we don't often seem to pull it off but McNair certainly did, twice really as although NDong shot instead of returning the pass, McNair was waiting as if he had passed it. Yeah NDong looked really good (performance wise, his hair still gives me night terrors), we've been short of a mobile and physical CM. None of the other senior lads have both attributes, even including M'Vila.
Looks good, we need a win at the weekend now and it will do loads for the confidence. I think we have some good young players, confidence will be a big factor in them playing well and us getting points. Some of the youngsters are going to have to step up if we are to have a good season because our squad is so thin. I am hopeful that going with youth rather than signing old knackers with experience will see us good in the long run. Just got to get some points on the board in the league.
Is Paddy McNair now our joint top scorer this season so far? What have we got it this lad. Will he be a Bridcutt, very good in the Championship against teams like Burton Albion and Newcastle but not premiership standard. Will he be our new saviour and become a legend here, a bargain at whatever we paid for him. Is this a one off performance. Sky commentators were full of praise for him, very encouraging. Can he repeat it and become an automatic first choice midfielder. Have we got a little gem on our books and did Man U make a big mistake letting him go. Has Moyes pulled off a bargain coup. Let's all hope that this lad fulfills the potential that made Moyes bring him here. Early days but a promising performance.
