Match preview;
Just landed back from 10 days on the east coast of America, where I only spotted the one QPR shirt, and had a quick catch up with some fellow Rangers fans. Very pleasing to see Willock, Andersen and Chair link up so well for the goal. If we can continue to build quick passages of play like that, with different attacking players, we'll make a lot more chances and surely score a lot more goals. Looked like a training ground drill in action, so credit to Cifuentes and co. That win leaves us just one point from the safety of 21st position, and one win away from potentially moving up to 19th.
Our visitors on Saturday, Rotherham United, are rooted to the bottom of the table, and haven't won since beating Boro' on Boxing Day. They've only won three and drawn ten all season, and their nineteen point tally leaves them ten points from 23rd placed, Sheffield Wednesday, and fifteen points from safety. Their top scorer is Hakeem Odoffin on 4 goals, followed by Jordan Hugill with 3.
Cifuentes;
“We know it would be a milestone mentally to win this game but we have to be at our best,” Cifuentes said.
“It’s an all-or-nothing situation for Rotherham. They need to win games so they are a really dangerous opponent.
“It’s going to be very difficult - they showed that against Ipswich and how hard they made things for them.
“We know we need to get points whoever we’re playing; it would be naïve to expect it to be an easy game looking at the league table.
“We need to make sure we dominate the game and put pressure on them from the beginning. I’m prepared for a very tough game against a team we have to have a lot of respect for.”
Rangers have collected 11 points from their last six fixtures, including last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Bristol City, and Cifuentes has been pleased with the progress his squad are making.
“Over the last six games we’ve got three wins and only one defeat at Stoke which came in a poor performance,” he said.
“The team is working hard and we are earning the right to fight to get out of the relegation zone.”
As always...
...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
