Can't argue with this.."We have heard all the excuses of small budget, young players, inexperienced players, fine margins, etc etc So why are Luton, Coventry , Barnsley doing so much better Because they are well organised, have guts, and have players who are fighting for the manager and have a game plan We are the complete opposite A shambles in defence and our set pieces just about reach the first man , we have conceded well over a hundred goals under Warburton, that’s gonna get you relegated We can’t score , our attacks come to nothing For me Tuesday night summed it up, we were beating Millwall with chair & LTC our best players he takes them off when they were getting the better of them , why ?? If we go down Warburton won’t be here so make the change and try and stay up"
Was out all afternoon doing late lunch so just catching up....... depressing result and in a relegation scrap whether we accept it or not..... Imho not the time to get rid of Warbles as in the current climate there's no way we can afford to pay him and the entire backroom staff off...... besides how much will replacements cost? We don't have that sort of money as they'd want to bring in new players in January and so on.... and before anyone says what about the Eze money, that fee is payable over the length of his contract so we certainly haven't had the full amount yet..... We could do with an experienced forward on loan in January , but no idea who's available to assist Dykes and Bonne.... probably could do with a younger version of Cameron, again no idea who's available.... All in all I don't know what the, answer is but changing the manager isn't....
Just back. Ill admit I haven't read the whole thread but I can guess the content! Great to be back at HQ and the 1986 fans made some reasonable noise for some of the time. Have to admit my expectations were low and I was pleased to go in at nil all at HT. We played some good stuff but, recurring theme, the lack of goal scoring incisevness cost us more points. Our defence today was mostly OK, the midfield held up reasonably though I did find myself thinking how much I'd love see an Ale Faurlin bossing the midfield! Carroll (I think) put one ball through that actually managed to split their defence but the two QPR players who might have pounced were not awake to it. Chair could not have been more that 3cm away from scoring. Goals change games! Love Albert's enthusiasm but I fear he is a spent force based on what I've seen of him so far. Until we invited Reading into the QPR half and laid out a welcome mat to have a punt, I thought we'd done OK and were good for the draw against a team who are doing rather well this season. MW made subs earlier than he normally does but they made little impact I'm afraid. Bonne had a wonderful debut goal. I hope that's not it!! I was entertained despite the loss but, of course, that's not good enough. I don't think the board will pull the trigger just yet. However if we start the New Year in the bottom three, that might change!
If we break the bank for anyone make it for a decent striker. I think Warburton has done very well last season and can do so again if he got a decent striker in, play the crosses, get a hard box to box midfield player in, and a couple of backs and as today we play excellent football without the finish. Lucky Reading.
We have hundreds of wingers. Are they all ****, or have they been told not to cross? Or are we not playing them in the right place? Or at all? Yours Confused of Leamington Spa. Hope you enjoyed being at HQs Strolls.
Enjoyed being back there today but gutted about the result. I think we’re really predictable and teams are very quickly working out how to beat us. We are lacking any creativity or game plan and even though we keep going toe to toe with higher teams they keep getting results against us. Given our form stats it’s a miracle Warburton is still there. I’m starting to think we do have a good team but he’s looking like the weak link and anything but a win in the next game and he needs to move on.
It was really good to be there today and the two thousand faithful made a decent amount of noise. I don't really like being behind the goal though, and we were very low down, so not the best view of the game. We really didn't deserve to lose, but if you don't cross and don't shoot you're not going to win. We play some nice passing football but have no cutting edge. Chair in particular is frustrating in too often refusing to cross the ball or attempt an incisive pass. I can only assume that this is how they play in training and that it's encouraged by Warburton, but it's not working.
As others have mentioned, skimming thru the team results are becoming as inviting as a fart in an elevator. Buy a pie van and bribe fat Sam to manage us.
what about changing formation to accommodate the strikers - 442. Maybe the 4231 formation isn't working anymore. Plus I still think that the issue surrounding BOS - Should he sign or should he leave is affecting the rest of the team.
Another tough loss to take ... as we can see from everyone’s feedback and comments. It’s tough to take this bad run of games. I still feel torn about MW. This is a very tough season with games thick and fast, little opportunity to put things right on the training pitch. But our defensive frailties have been going for so long with very little improvement - that is hard to accept; I can’t help but feel our ability to provide strikers with suitable opportunities through quality crosses/passes has long left us as a team for more than a few years. I’m still not keen on changing manager again but I am less keen of dropping down a division and that fear could well cost him his job, and it’s been a tough job in these last few years - which many managers would t have entertained knowing our fix. The one great thing is to hear how many here got to go to a game again. It’s all about the fans... and you all richly deserved the opportunity. Let’s hope we see an about turn soon and a positive run of games and haul of points.
Had a chat to the random fella sitting 1m away from me. We speculated whether MW had told them not to put in crosses but play into the box. If so, makes Dykes anonymous which he was for large parts of the game.
I think it's very likely the case that they're told not to cross. There was one occasion where we had a free kick a few yards from the corner of the penalty area and played it short, then short again, and then lost it. If Dykes had any hair, he'd have been tearing it out.
Had a ticket for today’s match but decided against it & probably a wise choice, thought of packed underground trains & main line train turned it for me, got a ticket for Tuesday & will refuse that & especially kick off time is 17.30! I’ll ring club up & give up my ticket
