It was brilliant. I implore you to watch this video without then allowing the thread to turn into another debate about dear Adel, just enjoy it; Players who have played for both; Patrick Agyemang played 122 for Preston, scoring 21 and then played 75 for Rangers, scoring 15. Gareth Ainsworth played 5 for Preston in 1992 then another 5 whilst on loan in 2002, scoring 1. He played 141 for us, scoring 36. Max Ehmer played one games for us, and 9 games for Preston whilst on loan. Tom Smith also played for us in our first season in the Southern League, in the 1899/1900 season, and he also played 6 games for Preston. Match Preview; Updated with the preview from the official with up to date team news; QUEENS Park Rangers take on Preston North End on Saturday afternoon in what is the penultimate game of the season at Loftus Road. The goals have been free flowing in W12 recently, with Ollie’s side scoring eight in our last two home matches. In fact our form at Loftus Road this season has been very good with only the current top seven picking up more home points than the R’s. Tuesday night was our 11th home victory of the season, which is one more than the 2015/16 campaign and two more than last year with two games still to go. It’s fair to say that there is, perhaps, more riding on this game for our visitors. Preston are just four places ahead of the R’s in 11th position but crucially still have a small chance of making the play-off positions. Alex Neil’s side are five points away from the top six but realistically need to win their remaining four matches and hope that results elsewhere go their way. Regardless as to where they end up finishing, Preston have had a great season. They lost their popular manager Simon Grayson last summer but the appointment of former Norwich City boss Alex Neil has proved to be a very successful one, and he has arguably taken them up a level since arriving last summer. If there’s any kind of disappointment surfacing around Deepdale it will be that before their victory over Leeds United in midweek they had lost their last three games. Two of those defeats came against Sheffield Wednesday and Reading – two teams they would have expected to get points off, which would have put them in a very healthy position. Worryingly for QPR, the key to Preston’s season has been their away form. The Lilywhites have picked up 32 points on the road, which is more than their total at home and a tally that only three teams in the league better. The man to look out for, should he pass a late fitness test, will be their forward Sean Maguire who has netted ten times this season despite missing much of the campaign with injury. When Preston came to Loftus Road near the start of last season they had yet to win a Championship game but a flat performance from QPR saw the visitors come out as 2-0 winners.
Looks like we have lots of options in attacking positions, but not so many at the back, though Kakay may get some time apparently. Hope we are going for a top half finish.
No pressure now, so without tinkering, Ollie should give the youngsters a chance to shine. Eze, Darnell, Otte, Sammy, Little Smyth and any others who have looked good in the U23s. IF Ned and Jack are on there way out - bye bye. No room for Perchie or Jamie either. Win games and go on to next season.
Preston will be a tough nut to crack in a must-win game for them. I hope Ollie doesn't mess around too much now we're safe, surely a winning run would boost confidence for next season...
Another must win!! My decision to go today and not on Tuesday will surely be vindicated by a stunning 4-1 win. They have to win all four remaining games so it should be open.
As we are safe, its all about performances at this stage of the season, not necessarily results. Ollie is giving the youngsters a go and whilst a win would be good for their confidence going into the summer, a loss would be no harm. Having said that, the youth in the side are good enough to withstand the likes of Preston and I expect a good open game, not unlike a cup tie, with Preston chasing points and us looking to impress for next season. U Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs!!
Would play the same team as tueday except for mass in for cousins, get 2/3 up & then bring on the some of the new youngsters or likes of mackie/perch.
Agree Yotally Jeff. Don’t blood too many kids and have them suffer a confidence crushing defeat. We should still be pushing for points - but give one or two youngsters a chance of 15-30 minutes once a lead has been established (rather than being left chasing an early gift goal to the opposition - and crowing you got the selection wrong afterwards)
Other than the crazy result at Reading we have been involved in a lot of high scoring games of late and it seems to me that the first goal is crucial for the confidence of the team. With nothing to play for it will be well worth starting with an attacking line up and really going for it in the first half. No sign that Holloway has such tactics in him but a Smith-Smyth-Eze forward line to start the match would make this end of term affair less of a burden for us season ticket holders milking the last dregs from our questionable investment
No sign at all. Apart from 3 in 15 minutes last time out and 2 in the first half away at Villa. Other than that I agree and hope you long -suffering season ticket holders enjoy another 4 goal blitz. It would be nice if us away supporters could have one of those!
Enjoy the game all those going, lovely sunny warm day, couple of pints, a performance free from pressure, could be blissful.
Different......get to see Ingram play (can assume we may be seeing Smithies heading in the summer?) And plenty of youth in the team and on the bench
Mmm didn’t think he would change team that much but we expected it! I’d rather play strongest team & get as many points as poss but still possible today as he says tongue in cheek.
