On the basis of resting tired legs and saving key players for Coventry it seems time to give some youngsters a game, for example:
Archer
Gubbins Domi Mahorn
Kakay Thomas Dozzell McCallum
Mema Duke-McKenna
Kelman

I agree with your logic and congratulations for attempting to predict the team for tomorrow's match. It is close to a mission impossible task! :)

After the Barnsley match, I would definitely play THOMAS and DOZZELL to re-build their confidence. ARCHER also automatically goes in as the no. 2 goalie. If fit, then we also should see the QPR debut of McCALLUM. As we are short of fit strikers, then KELMAN makes my staring eleven. I guess that I would also give a debut for DUKE-McKENNA.

After these 6 names it starts to get tricky between playing a total reserve team or some of the regualar squad.

As ODUBAJO was "rested" last Saturday and is young, so I would be tempted to play him. BARBET seems to play every match, so why change a long running tradition. For the last three players I would risk playing KAKAY, DUNNE and BALL.

-------------- Archer-----

-- Kakay -- Dunne -- Barbet ---

Odubajo -- Ball -- Dozzell -- McCallum

---- Thomas -- Duke McKenna --

------------- Kelman ------

In this way I would try to put out a relatively competitive team, with many reserve players, but with a sound defence, which should be a match for a League 1 team. But I admit that it is a hard task and a risk with Ball, Kakay, Dunne and Odubajo.

Love to see this superstar Sinclair Armstrong play, but still in U19 I believe

I think we will know how bad deWisj is by whether Dunne plays or not, Moses can play too...we cannot even play that waste of space that Kane is, as he is banned!!!!

So my team I think

Archer
Gubbins Dunne Wells
Moses Thomas Dozzell McCallum
Owen Duke-McKenna
Kelman

We also have the elusive Ramskilde
Shame I a m not going I would love to see Ramskilde play

Interesting.

No idea on the quality of GUBBINS and WELLS as central defenders. Perhaps we will find out?

Could also see OWEN.

The options are almost limitless! :)

Yes with so many out all ready, I'm not sure it's worth risking more injuries by using players we want for the Coventry game, but then they could get injured in training. Difficult decisions for Warburton. Maybe he'll not want to put Ball at risk as he has no obvious replacement for me now.

I think that MW intended to rest Ball last Saturday against Barnsley, hence he did not start. Then we all know what happened. So Ball may now really need to be rested.

It is a tough call for MW as there is are many permutations, but no obvious solutions.

Anyway, he is closest to the team and players, and will make his best optimised decision.

I guess that if we are to lose, which will not be a disaster, then to lose gracefully. :)

For once I would be happy with a "competitive" reserve team, as clearly this season our priority and focus needs to be on the Championship, plus we have a key home game against Coventry on Saturday. Then I think that we will be all grateful for the international break.

Karl Robinson says Oxford United will make changes at Queens Park Rangers Picture: Darrell Fisher

OXFORD United will make several changes at Queens Park Rangers – but Karl Robinson says they can still be ‘ultra-competitive’.

The U’s head coach is set to rotate his line-up for tomorrow’s Carabao Cup second round tie, as he deals with injuries and aims to keep players fresh.

It has paid off before in the competition, most notably when United beat Premier League side West Ham United 4-0 in September 2019 despite making six changes.

QPR are fifth in the Sky Bet Championship, but Robinson says the U’s will challenge in front of an away following that is set to comfortably exceed 2,000.

united’s head coach said: “We’ll make a lot of changes, but we’ve always done that - that’s not just because it’s QPR.

“Some will be forced and some will be on purpose, but we’re ready to go.”

He added: “The fans just want to have a great day out, but we feel that we can be ultra-competitive.

“It’s a competition that we’ve done relatively well in, so we’re looking forward to it.

“The lads who might come in will see the performance levels at the weekend and see a team that’s starting to gel.

“I’m looking forward to seeing one or two new things tomorrow as well.”

Robinson suggested at the weekend that some young players will be involved, having included Leon Chambers-Parillon, Josh Johnson, Tyler Goodrham and Ben Watt in his squad for the first-round win at Burton Albion.

United also have a considerable injury list, with James Henry, Billy Bodin, Ryan Williams, Sam Long and Jamie Hanson all out.

QPR may well make changes too, but Robinson knows that is not always the case with higher-division opponents.

He learned the hard way in 2015, when his MK Dons side lost 6-0 at home to Southampton in the Carabao Cup third round.

He said: “I made ten outfield changes, expecting (Ronald) Koeman to make the same.

“When we shook hands and exchanged team-sheets, I saw names like Van Dijk and Mane and thought ‘oh no’.
“They made no changes and we got beaten by six.”

Ticket question. Is this game included with my ST? There was an e-mail which implied it was included but being charged for.
Anyone know?
I thought the same but the FAQs on the club website state only home league matches included. Bizarrely the app showed I had an active ticket for Oxford but that’s now disappeared. Have bought tickets elsewhere in the ground for tonight’s game.

Love that comment so much.

Ramskilde is becoming a sort of totem to me...a sort of bucket list wish to actually see him and whether he really exists.

He has a photo on the offy and everything.

We have youngsters who come up through the academy, play for us for years, and then we let them go.

But Ramskilde comes to us with an injury record. He barely plays for any of our teams, as he is injured...and then we give him another contract...and still he barely appears, because he is not fit.

He must be v v cheap, or we must see some potential...or he has something very dodgy on Sir Les.
Surely not. i thought the bad old days of Flav insisting that every manager keep on Pellicori because either Flav could see his talent which the rest of us missed or because he was in some way related to him or Flav's backers. We got rid of at least one manager didn't we because of the P factor and even Neil had to accept him until his patience finally ran out.

Rang them. Shows as active to give you chance to buy your own seat. Only a fiver for me so I'll be there.
