Now that we gave have discussed and clarrified the “author” issue, plus we have some more “graphics”, perhaps we should start to discuss tomorrow’s match? :)

I am not expecting any major changes, i.e we continue with our 3:5:2 formation, but with Furlong in the right wing-back role. Mostly of the team picks itself. Plus we even have options for the three defensive defenders.

The only open and key decision is who to play upfront, and we really have some options which is great.

I have not yet read up on Boro’s style, but the key question is do we press with two fast players, or play a big guy upfront from the start.

I would be very tempted to keep the sucessfull attack from last week and play Oteh and Washington from the start. I think they deserved it.

Iook forward to reading other thoughts and views.
I'd like to see Baptiste recalled if fit again for Lynch, and Pawel a better attacking alternative for Furlong. Possibly Smyth too if fit again for Washington.

Injury news
Paul Smyth netted on his debut against another high-flying side in Cardiff City on New Year’s Day but picked up a thigh strain in the same match. He has been sidelined ever since and it will again keep him out
Jordan Cousins had been suffering from a hamstring injury but has returned to training with one eye on the Boro clash
David Wheeler will miss the match with an ankle injury.
Alex Baptiste is in line to face his former club as he is now over a back injury that he sustained in the FA Cup Third Round defeat to Milton Keynes.

Have to say "they" lied to us that Baptiste was fit last week, and he was not even on the bench, so I have a muddled mind about how injured he is
Having said that I am still going with the only change being Baptiste for Lynch (that is what I want) but possibly Ollie may start with the team that started against Burton. I will be more than a bit peeved if ANYONE plays instead of Furlong

I agree on Baptiste and I would make that change.

I would love you to be correct on Paweł, but I fear that currently Furlong is 1st choice as right wingback.

The choice of strikers will depend on tactics, including the usage of subs. I expect and hope to to see Smythe on the pitch at some time.

I agree about Baptiste though the much maligned Lynch not as bad as that in my view. Bound to be a huge side so the thought of Smyth running at them is a good one. We've had some success against them in season's past so here's hoping.

I think Smyth is injured. I'd have kept the same two up top anyway, but I think Oteh played in the U-23s yesterday, so I fear we may see Smith starting. Washington has to play, though.

Washington hit the post, had an assist and scored. He also, according to those who saw it, ran his bollocks off.

And you want him dropped? What can the bloke do to keep his place in your eyes?

I’d much rather see Washington running his bollocks off than Mackie doing the same, even if you do get extra claps with Mackie. Now Holloway has decided to let the youngsters have a kick sometimes it might sharpen up the competition for places up front. Although Washington’s problem has been trying too hard if anything.

So, having neatly contradicted myself I will pause for reflection. I’m struggling to readjust to the tropical climate I returned to this morning, hampering my thought processes.

Washington played the best I have seen him last week, but I still thought Smyth was better when he got a game - quicker, sharper and looked more likely to score. Ran into the right places too. But he''s still injured apparently so I hope Washington keeps his place and his better performance last time out.
