Match Preview;
This Sunday afternoon we welcome promotion hunting Middlesborough to HQ for a Sunday afternoon kick-off. I've got to be honest, I'm afraid I don't hold much hope for this one. Since we played and lost to them in December, they've lost four, drawn three and won seven. Those seven wins have lifted them to 2nd in the table, three points clear of 3rd placed Ipswich, but five points behind 1st placed Coventry. Their top scorer is Morgan Whittaker, with 11 goals so far. This match will be the twentieth match for Boro with Kim Hellberg at the helm, and in the 19 matches so far, he's won 11, drawn 3 and lost 5.
Ad for us, since that match in December at The Riverside, we've won four, drawn four and lost six, plus a cup exit. We've slipped from playoff potential to solid mid-table, and I'm just glad we have enough wins not to be going into the end of the season looking over our shoulders. Part of that slide has been down to injuries, especially the loss of our top scorer, Rumarn Burrell, who had scored 10 before his injury...but should be close to returning, right? With a few other players returning from injury, I'm now at the point I just want us to get a few more wins this year, and start looking to next season, maybe trying some new formations and giving some of the younger players a some game time for the experience of playing in front of a crowd. With eleven games to go, maybe I am too pessimistic to give up now, but ten points from 6th, and thirteen points from 22nd, I think we have mid-table obscurity in the bag.
Team news and manager comments to go up when on the official, as always, enjoy if you'll make it to HQ, and...
...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
