Match Preview;
Massive Friday evening at Loftus Road, live on Sky against promotion hopefuls Leeds United. They won 3-4, at Middlesbrough, on Monday evening, to record their first win since the 1st of April. They had previously lost two, either side of a goalless draw against Coventry. That run has left them within touching distance of third place Ipswich Town, who are only a point behind them, with a game in hand. Crysencio Summerville is their top scorer with 20 goals so far, and with league leader Leicester faltering at the moment too, Leeds will be desperate to get another win to move closer to automatic promotion, and possibly even the Championship title for this year.
As for us, our win against Preston on Saturday all but guarantees our Championship survival. We are 18th, and 4 points from Birmingham, who are 22nd. It could take a win and a draw for Birmingham, who are yet to play Huddersfield and Norwich, and wins for Blackburn, Plymouth, and two wins for Sheffield Wednesday so see us move back into the relegation battle...assuming the worst, and we don't pick up any points in the next two games. I'm feeling a lot more confident than I was before the Preston game. Dykes was back on the score sheet, which was great to see, and he now leads the goalscorers table, with 6.
