It looks like more than just the back 4 to me, the whole team seem to have lost the intensity of the defensive work they were putting in, back in October. Nobody got close to Bowen for their first when a few should have, the 2nd looked lucky for them sloppy from us, and Leischner was left very alone for their 3rd which Lumley probably should have done better with, all 3 really.
Good man - it's now 2-2! Remember, we don't want to see Sparkless sacked until he's actually relegated a team so he can add that to his glorious CV......
Very frustrating afternoon. More than enough chances to win the match - as at Rotherham - but some alarmingly poor defending Bringing Smith on actually seemed to make us less effective up top, and taking Cameron off left the defence badly exposed Defend like that at Elland Road and we'll he buried by half time Bit of a wake up call
I thought Cameron had been our best player up to that point. Bringing Hemed on didn't help at all - not a good player if you ask me. From a good run built around defensive solidity, we have conceded seven goals in a week, pretty much all of which were avoidable.
My reflections are that our successful 4-2-3-1 formation is great for the counter attacking. However in recent matches, we have had the majority of the possession, thus our 4-2-3-1 is less effective. Hull today sat back and hit is on the break. I don’t recall one successful counter attack by the R’s. We probably need to go 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 with such teams and situations. The key will be flexibility and good tactics per match.
There really were few good performances today. After a purple patch before HT I thought we'd come out and rout them in the second half. But we looked like a bunch of strangers playing. Hope it's just an isolated bad day at the office
We weren't letting in 2/3 goals a game, we were defending our goal with everything we had, and there were more leaves on the trees. Weren't you there?
I see the protesters are calling Macron a dictator. I have said that for some time. I bet all those companies leaving London () can't wait to move to Paris with riots every other week.
Fancy losing to Hull. Dam it Kiwi. For the sake of the club and us fans, you need to go back, immediately.
Agreed. They came out very smartly. I messaged my lads to say it was hard to see why, just based on the few mins before they scored, they were in the drop zone at the start of today.
Was out all day only managed to follow on WhatsApp chat....disappointing result but maybe we're better when we have less possession and can play on the counter attack......both Rotherham and hull were happy for us to have the ball.....next week at Leeds may suit us better when we can counter..... Still 2 defeats in 10 isn't bad but when you score 6 goals in 3 games you'd expect a better return than 2points....need to get back to a bit of solidity at the back...
Also meant to mention that Marshal played a bit of a blinder today with two very good saves which goals would have otherwise have put the game to bed for us.
Have to say so disappointed with yesterday's performance, just let them take command and after getting back into it before half time we just didn't turn up in the 2nd half. It seems we are a bit Jekyll & Hyde at the moment and it's worrying conceding so many soft goals. Three tough games coming up, on this form we'll be lucky to get a point...
