Shame Sheffield got a point Our GD doesn't help us either, worst of all the teams above us, plus WBA.
Yeah, it's a good meet for an evening game. Last time we met about 4 and left about ten past seven, getting in the ground comfortably for kick-off. Three stops on the Central line to White City
Ran around a lot, made himself available, pulled the defence around a bit. But the ball is not his friend.
Thought he was behind him mostly. As someone else said only Amos ran beyond him. Warburton corrected an interviewer after the Huddersfield game saying it was a 4 2 3 1 we played then, and it looked the same again to me today. But I dont get the overview on the screen you get if you are at the game.
Just what we needed by the sounds of it. Amos is showing that knack of scoring - I’m all up for that. Nice touch by MW to make Dunne captain - very shrewd. A nice three points. Keeps us within the possibility of pushing for a top six - outside chance, but a chance is always worth fighting for.
I was at the KPFS and I agree, it was more like 4-2-3-1 because Thomas was generally further back than Dykes, with Dozzell and Field as the "2". Some good performances out there today; WRDC were no mugs and came into this game having just beaten the runaway leaders. Credit where it's due: lots of energy, tackles, blocks and interceptions... and carved out some good chances. Dunne, Field and Amos stood out for me.... and Dykes was much improved. Currently, the ratings on Loft for Words show Amos as MOTM, which owes something, but far from everything, to his excellent goal.
Few additions . Field got his traditional booking. So he is 1 booking off a 3 match ban. Thought McCallum and Moses did okay as attacking full backs in back 4. But Moses injured again! Wish we could keep McCallum...but sure we won't be able to. I am beginning to think Dozzell gets a bad press...does a lot of tidy work as does Amos, who isbecoming a pretty good player. Like Stan though, from where we sit...not sure what Dykes did. Not much movement, a lot of arm flapping...and not so pressing as he was in December. Last year he still wasn't scoring much but he was annoying wasp up front. Yesterday not so. We would have been promoted if we had a scoring no9. That is what we need next year
Dykes won almost every header and his linking play was very good, too. He also set up Amos for the goal, of course. I called him as MOM, but I think that was more for the improvement shown by him.and with hindsight Dunne was probably more deserving. I thought we should have pressed more yesterday, but Dykes can't do that on his own. They had a bizarre goal-kick routine, whereby the full-back would take the kick and pass to the goalie standing in the middle of the goal. We should have put that under pressure. I like McCallum, but he got an absolute roasting yesterday from their right-winger Malcolm Ebiowei (definitely worth an enquiry). I heard a BBC reporter this morning (admittedly BBC Derby) suggesting that if Rooney had kept Derby up it would have ranked with Leicester winning the PL as an achievement. Huh? I did think the Derby fans were great though, and really didn't deserve all the taunting from our lot. I just don't get that.
Seeing as they were the ones baying loudest for blood when we were under the FFP spotlight, it's hardly surprising is it
I see that Kirtcher is not that wealthy. Tens of millions and certainly not billions or even hundreds of millions. Not enough, surely?
But when has that ever been a problem? Think of all the wasters who didn't own a cent but put together consortiums to buy Pompey one after the other as they spiralled down the League. Apparently they all passed the fit and proper test. Actually come to think of it, someone a lot closer to home for Derby fans, Mel Morris. Isn't it all a bit academic these days given that the EFL limits the amount that the owners can spend. It's getting harder each year for clubs to rely on a billionaire sugar daddy to buy them success especially as oligarchs are not welcome any longer.
On 2nd half performance definitely, I was right in line with Amos' header and looked destined for the top corner. However it's another if only. My if only would have been avoid the diabolical form from Feb onwards! Amos could end up top scorer this season, interesting when Hendrick has probably played more minutes and Johansen has played tons more! There contributions this year?
