I put up 2 possible French strikers and 1 German striker pre season who were all available at no more than 200k or possible loan deals ! Did we have anyone looking at them or possible others ? Did we ****.
I last looked for Kiwi I think it was about 5 games into the season, 1 of the French ones had played 2 games for his club and scored in 1 and assisted in the other, the other one had remained with his club also but had an injury and hadn't played up to that point. The German one had moved to a Spanish side for 150k and had come on for 25 mins on his debut and scored. They were all under 24 years of age. I can't be arsed to look them up again, it's too depressing and I've lost any interest in our scouts and signings. The point is I always put a list of possible strikers up every pre season of young and cheap alternatives, and our network of scouts never gets to look at any of them. The most pertinent point is that with our limited to non existent budget, is that there are options and players out there we can gamble on. All this where are we meant to magic up the money for them cobblers, just doesn't wash anymore. We are heading straight down the leagues because of lazy scouting and bringing in free transfers that simply aren't gonna save us. The loanees we brought in last season were diabolical and this season we haven't brought in any ! The fact our left back is top scorer says it all

Not really ripping it up then. Perhaps we looked at them and decided they weren't any good. I really doubt that you're a better scout than those we employ professionally.
If you can't spend any money on players the best scouts in the World wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.
And loans where the parent club pays at least half of the wages ? It's what we were doing previously with mixed results
If we can't spend a single penny on transfers, it's not gonna make a blind bit of difference who the manager is with the poor squad we have. Chair 0 goals and hardly any assists, Willock is shot, Dykes might get 10-15 goals with decent service, Armstrong isn't an put and out striker , Kelman is league q standard at best and Kolli is just a kis with no experience. It's a League 1 squad in reality but without the goals !
It's like I said , our scouts have been shocking for years. And now that we can't buy anyone, I think they've given up looking completely
But let's not forget that Ipswich did just that They wasted away a number of years when they never looked remotely like the team to win League One. As did we when we went into administration and Ollie had to put together a team from the coppers in his pocket.
For some bizarre reason, I thought Ipswich had only gone down recently but I see they spent four seasons in L1. One's memory of the timing of events is so often badly incorrect. Paradoxically, that gives me a little bit of hope unless those who state that relegation could mean catastrophic finances heralding the end of the club are right.
We may play better, but there still aren't enough goals in the team. We saw that last season even with Chair and Willock chipping in with some!
