Match Preview;
Another week I feel the need to get the next matchday thread up nice and early to move on from the last game: Cardiff are fresh from a win against 6th place Sheffield Wednesday, and haven't lost in 4 games. A win could see them move into the top 6. We now haven't won in 4, and I'm hoping we won't continue to drop down the table, but we are still a fair way from serious trouble. I wasn't there yesterday, but from what I have seen in the highlights, the defending/goal keeping was shocking...personally, I think we have to bring back Kelly ASAP as Lumley looks like a keeper with no confidence at all. Others who were at the game can tell me if I am being harsh.

Team news
QPR: Charlie Owens (knee), Yoann Barbet (hamstring).

Cardiff City: Joe Bennett (eye), Joe Ralls (hand), Isaac Vassell (thigh), Matthew Connolly (ankle).

Pre-match words
QPR manager Mark Warburton: "Cardiff have a physicality about the squad and they do what they do very well. They have got good players and we have got to be ready for them. There is a hurt and an anger after the Hull game, so hopefully we can channel that into the Cardiff match.”

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris: "I’ve had a solid return since I’ve been here, but I’ll always demand more from my players and my staff. We made a statement to the rest of the Championship on Sunday, and now we have to follow that up against QPR on Wednesday."

...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

I thought Lumley had played a few games with a bit more confidence and made some decent saves the last few games, but that was a simple ball to catch yesterday. Ok they all make mistakes that don't cost so much as a Keepers, but then he compounded that by seeming so inactive for their 2nd as well. Think we have to bring back Kelly too.

Thing is he went to catch it with his palms facing out rather than gathering the ball into his chest, maybe he was thinking about quick distribution before having the ball under control, whatever it was it was a calamitous mistake and another to add to the 5 or 6 previous ones that have cost us goals and point this season...….

It was a calamitous mistake, but 9 times out of 10 he'd have got away with it by dropping on the ball. This time the striker was right here.

I do like Lumley and he has made plenty of decent stops but unlike previous keepers who have also had huge mistakes in them and cost us points (Green for example) I don't remember many games where he's played a blinder and earned (or saved) us points. For me he's too flat footed and indecisive and often a bit dozy. Still think he's got potential but given our defence is shaky he can't be inspiring much confidence. Tough decision for Warbs.

As usual, I'll add team news if it goes on the official, enjoy those who are going and...

...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

Regarding Lumley, you're not being harsh.

Lumley is 24. Isn't that pretty young for a keeper?
Worse case scenario is he goes now and develops into an amazing keeper in 3 to 5 years.
Would hate for us to be kicking ourselves for not adopting the longer term view.
Honestly, if you were a scout, would you be touting him as a future star? Nah...

He seems like a good bloke but I can't see him being better than average. He has been WOEFUL this season. Let's not forget that. He only got his starting spot back from Kelly due to injury.

If he goes somewhere else and gets his head together, that will probably be because he changes environment and gets some head space and distance from his awful work this season. It won't be in spite of leaving us.

But I don't think he'll ever be a significant keeper anywhere.

No Hugill, and Cameron and Wallace at full back. Wells lone striker again. Looks like another painful afternoon, I hope to be surprised.
