Match Day Thread QPR vs Burnley

So I have seen us play worse.

Burnley were very good with their high press and movement. I thought they were good.

We weren't as bad as everyone is saying.

We werrego much better in second half with Frey and Chair on. Tells us everything. We have a good team but no bench or support and so with a Championship season...we need decent support.

Dunne was devastated... I assume this is his last home match..

We need a much stronger squad and two replace the few good players we will lose.

Burnley just taught us a lesson that most of us already knew. We are one of, if not the easiest team in the league to press against due to our total lack of movement and our inability to pass the ball forwards. We chased them down for the first 2 or 3 minutes by which time the likes of Madsen and Dembele were ****ed. If someone offered me 100k for Madsen I would bite their hands off!! Complete waste of money. I won't be sad to see any player go if I'm totally honest. There is no style implemented in this team, it's the same old every week so I won't be too arsed if Marti goes either.

I stayed to applaud the team and their families who all came around with the players.

Why did I do that? Cause QPR is my team! Playing like Barca or, well, like QPR, they are my team and I support them through thick and thin, as I know you all do too.

Unclear about the lap Marti did before the game. I'm guessing it's just something he wanted to do for the fans but I suppose it might have been a 'goodbye' too.

It's going to be a busy old summer and, boy oh boy, does it need to be!

Most managers get judged on results and performances and if that is the case at QPR he should be at risk. And having just read his comments he sounds like a man who expects to be sacked.

Burnley's average attendance for 24/ 25 has been 19803 (QPR 15856). Yet, despite a very modest gate, Burnley had an income of €107.51m (QPR €4.15M) and Burnley spent €54.19m (QPR €8.42m).

The figures partially explain why they are Champions (and yesterday's result), only 'partially' because it's never only just about the money.

Let's see what FFP makes of the figures when they are relegated at the end of 25/26.

Parker has some better players at his disposal but what he does better than Cifuentes is, he implements them in a style/formation that suits them. Obviously their club is ran far better than ours. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have gone into the season with an on loan right back as their only cover for left back position. But concerning coaching, you have a point. The basics of 'pass and move' are fundamental at even the lowest standard. Burnley did it naturally. We just don't do it at all. Hannibal and their winger (I forget his name) didn't bloody stop. Same as Brownhill and Cullen. Compare that to the movement of Colback or Madsen. I've said it all season. This set up doesn't suit the players at our disposal. We will no doubt get Kelman back, play him and ruin him. We could have a prime Batistuta up top and we wouldn't create anything for him. The club has to change.

Forget about skill levels and that some players are better than others, no matter how good you are on the ball you should be able to know where to stand.

When we (rarely) got the ball, Burnley players were instantly in their positions. Straight lines of defenders, midfielders and attackers, all ready to cover and move when required.

We however trott around, maybe wave an arm and look to hide behind another player.

This isn't about billion pound players, this is about simple training and culture.

During the warm up the "attackers" were doing a drill including crossing the ball for a striker to tap in. Most crosses didn't reach the in running player and when they did the shots were skied in to the upper loft of hit the corner flag. If this is the attitude 10 minutes before the game no wonder we were 3 down in 28 minutes. The whole set up is half-hearted.

I hope someone proves me wrong but as the prevailing mood here and in the Board room apparently is that it is time for a change none of us including Cifuentes should have to wait too long. Give the boss what he needs and the time and freedom to choose his own players for next season. But then this is QPR and I suspect they will be interviewing all summer while players depart and are not replaced until eventually Nourry finds a bargain basement replacement and then gives the new guy a six figure kitty to take us up to the promised land.

One thing is for sure. Nobody who is any good will be willing to work under a regime where transfer decisions are dictated by the owners based on little more than statistics based on player transfer value algorithms and injuries are determined by some buffoon based in Dubai who does not even know where Loftus Road is.
