Match Preview;
This Saturday we welcome fellow mid-table side, Bristol City, to Loftus Road. Points wise, we are inseparable, two of three teams sitting on 57 points, alongside Watford. Bristol City are above us, in 11th, due to their goal difference of +1, compared to our -5. Watford lead the trio, with a goal difference of +3. Bristol City will probably be disappointed being where they are, given they made it into the playoffs last year...and lost 6-0 on aggregate to Sheffield United. After that playoff defeat their manager, Liam Manning, left to take over at Norwich, but was sacked after no wins in his first 11 matched. Gerard Struber took over at Ashton Gate, and managed 16 wins, 9 draws and 18 losses before being sacked, leaving Bristol City in 16th place. Cue the arrival or Roy Hodgson, and a resurgence just before they play us. Hodgson has managed two and won two, hence lifting Bristol City to 11th.

As for us, three wins, one draw and a loss from our last five games, and 4 points gained over the Easter weekend, and the mood has certainly been lifted. We look a lot more threatening going forward, and encouragingly, you have to go back five games to find the last time we conceded more than 1 goal...given that was a 4-0 loss at Boro'. Nothing is going to happen this year, so the only thing we have to play for is pride, and doing better than we did last year. Last season we finished 15th, on 56 points...so that points total is already beaten, but we lost two of our last three games last year, before winning on the final day...and it'd be great to carry some good form into the summer break. Not least of all because as it stands, Julien Stefan has won 16, drawn 9 and lost 18 in his time in charge...and I'd love to get his number of wins higher than his losses by the end of the season...probably irrelevant, but a small psychological boost.

Team news and manager comments to go up if/when on the official, and others can add what they know below.

Enjoy if you'll make it to HQ for this one, and as always...

...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

Cheers Dave

It’s only the traditional two cup losses that takes Stephan into the red. League is 16-9-16.

Early kick off is excellent news for my liver.

I'm not sure what is more depressing, the endless list of players you lot come up with every week for me to add to the list, or the weekly realisation that we have had some distinctly average players over the years.
Turns out Kiwi meant big Matt Smith rather than little Matt Smith. BMS doesn’t seem very Bristol City at all while LMS screams eleven games, zero goals for Bristol City during a loan spell in 2022.

@daverangers you might want this on your Christmas/birthday list for the tricky ‘they played for both’ identification.

Shouldn’t take much time to build a simple searchable spreadsheet on which to input the details of all 1400 players and the teams they played for.

And then keep it up to date for post publication players….
