For me it looked like McClaren had told them to get their fingers out, get further up the pitch, and put some pressure on their suspect looking defense. Same formation. After a few minures of miss-passing at the start of the 2nd half we eventually managed a period of 2 minutes of pressure on them that ended with Luongo scoring the equaliser. They were still dangerous at times after that but then so were we, and Brentford put pressure on themselves by trying to play out of their own box regardless of how outnumbered they sometimes were, and regsrdless of their repeated losing of the ball in dangerous situations.
This was it. We didn't change formation, we just pressed further up the field, and their inability to successfully play out from the back meant that they couldn't keep the ball. I'd have been tearing my hair out if I was a Brentford supporter. If it's not working, you have to change it, but they didn't, even in injury time when they needed to chase an equaliser.
Always thought having a preferred starting 11 made sense and it shows it does make a difference. I’m not sure Holloway ever knew his preferred 11.
Despite playing some really attractive football Brentford are not getting results and for me SM should have known their weaknesses before the game. Having watched them playing around our midfield in the first half he saw things very clearly and got us pressing high up the pitch which paid immediate dividends. Not criticising the bloke as I think he's doing a good job now, just don't know why he was slow to use a tactic that has worked for us regularly this season. Maybe it was just that Freeman and Luongo needed a rocket at half time.
Sometimes you have to adapt to the conditions . Second half we changed the way we played and it worked . First half we refused to get early crosses in , ball in behind and taking the shot on . Second half we did all that and pressed higher . When the weather is like that sometimes you have to play the percentages . We didon’t change formation , we just changed the way we played . For me it was identified at half time and we won the game on the back of it . McClaren and team take credit for it . Only bad for me is way we sat back and invited them back into the game . At 3.1 they were there for the taking to kill off .
Looking at the stats, it appears that we are becoming very good at having much less possession whilst having more shots both on and off target, Impressive stuff.
There were any number of very good performances from our team yesterday but what particularly struck me was the performance of our fans. For the second time in recent weeks, Loftus Road was nearly full and absolutely rocking. The team played like they truly cared, as well as with some skill, and the crowd responded to this. I just wish we wouldn't sit back and try to defend a lead because it seems we're not very good at doing so. After our three goal spell, I felt we could carry on and get even more.
It seems picky but I heartily agree. It could have been 4 or 5:1 had they gone for the jugular. They should have done so to avoid the tense last 14 mins.
I cannot say anymore that SM is not doing his job He has shaped us into a good side and credit must be given so I honestly thought he would be sacked and credit for me to bounce back It was the worse QPR team I have watched for years and to turn that around is something very special Bollocks to TF however he is still a real plonker
He has certainly turned things around. Credit to the board for giving him time. If things carry on as they are going at present we could end up finishing scarily high up the table.
Absolutely Dave totally agree Hair Island is doing really well at the moment I hope of course nothing but success even to the point that our current manager becomes the best in our history and we win things I have no trouble at all saying I was completely wrong but i am certainly not going to join in any party re Tony Fernandes at the moment as I believe his involvement with our club has been one big ego trip and has revealed his very poor business ethics. Frankly I see him as one very stupid man who not not deserve to turn on the plaudits Yep it’s a sincere confession by me that again I was wrong to call for a change of manager especially when it went again my belief of stability Ferguson was initially useless at United I also believe that the players have all bonded under Oxbow. I expect in a seasons time to be defending SM but like anything genuine and of worth it needs time
So head to head with Brentford, 23 is the magic number. In the league, we've won 23 times, they've won 23 times and, yes you've guessed it, 23 draws. I hope we can turn them over in March next year and pull away from 23!
I couldn't get there Saturday but was looking at every device possible to follow the game. What was great was knowing when we were 1 down that we would get back into the game. That's a great feeling and although it was amazing we scored three in 10 mins I was not entirely surprised. We seem to have most things right at the moment. A few tactical issues maybe but the right blend of player throughout the team. I do not think I have been as happy with the team and club for this period of time for years.......long may it continue
Clive's belter of a report...… QPR recovered from a dire game and narrow defeat at Blackburn to beat local rivals Brentford 3-2 in a five-star, silver bullet special at Loftus Road on Saturday. Three goals in ten minutes is really something to be a part of. The moment it happens cannot be adequately described to a non-believer. The second the ball crosses the line for the third time. The way the net bulges and scatters what little rainwater has managed to hang from it in the brief time since you last troubled it. The realisation it’s happening, and it’s happening to you and your club and your friends. The astonishment that it’s your team clutching the blisteringly hot blade and doing the knifing and twisting. The complete and utter abandon. One goal? An equaliser? Brilliant, love it, treasure it, celebrate it, clutch it like a rare butterfly because it could be weeks before another comes along… but immediately recommence worrying. Is it a flash in the pan? Will it only serve to anger the opponent? Will we build on it and push on, or look back in anger through the hangover fog of Sunday morning at a brief, meaningless, respite through the pain and suffering of our pointless, unfulfilling existences? Will we be copied into their match reports crowing about how excited we got over our equaliser before they re-asserted their authority? In life, as one hand giveth, the other often attaches a tube for your Jalfrezi enema. Read the rest here.....https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footb...ry-brentford-in-second-half-onslaught--report
