I thought we dominated that game pretty well from start to finish. They only had 3 shots on goal. We played 3 5 2 with both wing backs getting forward a lot and crosses were pouring into their box all afternoon especially from Pawel and the right side. Their Keeper also made some good saves. Didn't see much to be negative about. Scowen had a poor game for him, Conor was quiet but Smyth looks like he could do well in his position when fully fit again, and Eze looked good again when he came on and will surely get a start soon especially if /when we are safe.
We don’t play wingbacks . Seriously why do people persist with this . Bidwell plays like a left back. . Without the red I really feel we would not have won at home against a p!ss poor side
Def Straight Red imo Smith is great just like to see someone in there at least trying to anticipate the old knock down We played fine yesterday Long way to go but certain we will be fine and keep building 2nd half against Wolves boosted the confidence Imo Just need the fans back inside and they will all return
Sounds like you were watching another game to me. One I saw on the TV it looked 3-5-2, commentator said 3-5-2, the Officials match report says 3-5-2 as normal. Pawel? Just from watching the 12 minute highlights on the Offish you can see it was a lovely ball in from Pawel for Smith that they own goaled, and was doubtedfully disallowed as offside. He also provided a good cross to Smith's head he didnt convert, he played Freeman in left side of the box whose shot was well saved, and again right side of the box he played Smyth in to the byline, for his cross Smith scored from. Bidwell also got in some decent crosses. Pawel also gave us the width we don't often have when he's not playing and he was solid in the tackle defensively.
In theory it gets the best out of our best three midfielders, allows us to field three at least semi-competent centre-halves and two strikers. Not sure I go along with that always but it works at home quite well IMO as a plan A. It’s not really a strict 3-5-2 as it’s lop-sided and asks a lot of the RWB.
Fans aren’t going cos the football is dross If you go each week you can see it gradually happening thru the course of the season . So so negative . I’m glad with the 3 points as I believe we now will be fine . But Bolton were shockingly bad and I maintain we would have struggled to break them down without the red card .
I certainly don’t agree with that at all We simply cannot finish imo apart from that this side put together by Holloway is fine plus they are getting better
M And 20 if them were probably Matt smith headers . If it wasn’t for two excellent saves from smithies we would have been two down before that red card. The performance was ok but it was against a very poor side. And why did it take so long to make the sub .
True. On the video highlights replay it is a red. However, the first impression is quite deceptive. Well done ref on that decision.
Pavel 2nd half was terrible Far too cautious kept running back towards Ned when he had acres in front of him I dont doubt he has the touch eye and talent if not the pace but he needs to grow some balls Good pass for the goal before you mention it
Certainly seems to be a confidence thing with Wszolek. His MOM performance against Reading last season where he simply terrorised them with direct running seems a distance memory. So disheartening to see this disappear from his game, you have to wonder why
The LFW report on the match: https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footb...perseverance-eventually-downs-bolton-–-report
I saw this on another site and was quite suprised that I enjoyed watching it. It is quite and objective Bolton perspective on the match. Interesting points were: - a Bolton fan ejected for smoking a cigarette whilst queing to get in - Bolton fans fancying their chances as we "do not score many" - then them wishing they has a target man like Matty Smity - the vociferous Bolton support - the school end view of the Loft celebrating
So you say we should have been two down, yet conveniently forget about all of our chances? How does that work?
