Been out all day just back home and well chuffed with result... Home form essential for keeping us comfortably away from drop zone... We'll done R's
A very comfortable win against a poor Bolton side. Smith must have had 9 or 10 headers that he could have scored from before Smyth set him up at the death. Both Eze and Smyth looked good when they came on. Seeing Smyth running at defenders is so refreshing - if only Wszolek would try it once in a while. Onuoha MOM for me.
A good result plus a clean sheet. However, I hear that the straight red was a bit harsh and I wonder what the result have been without it. But well done the R’s! It makes the weekend all the more enjoyable.
Was over the other side so didn’t get a good view. Will look on the telly later. If it’s two footed then he’s given the ref a decision to make, so can’t really complain (although I see Phil Parkinson is trying)
I should know better than back a striker for 1st goal. Listened to commentary and they said red was harsh (but how many desicions have gone against us this season?).
Highlights here for UK posters...bit odd a they show Smiths goal first, then the rest of the match in the right order. Several different views of the red card and can see how it was given - a desperate lunge, although no damage to Luongo. In Queenstown NZ atm so great news to wake up to. Well done The Rss. Also my first correct prediction this season.
I thought the rotating flange system worked very well today especially when we reverted to 423 +2 false no 7s
Smith reminded me of my playing days (before he scored). Tallest in the team but rarely scored with my head... missed loads. Moved back to Centre Half and enjoyed it more.
Looks like we created loads of chances albeit from set pieces Robinson's howitzer throws, freemans free kicks most ending on Smith's head.... 2 really good saves by smithies and nice to see we can't blame karl henry for anything. Like the way young Smyth attacks the byeline for the second goal. On another day could have been 3 or 4 but still a good win....
Like or loathe the tactics, his record this season particularly at home is very good. I don’t mind him being Plan A for games like this where we should have a lot of chances to sling it in.
I didn't have a good view of the red card tackle live, but having seen replays it looked a correct decision to me.
I don’t understand why we start so negatively. Starting week in week out with 5 at the back . Last two home games when we revert to 4.3.3 we look more of a danger . I thought until the sending off the game was pretty even. Mustn’t forget smithies two saves at nil nil . After the sending off not sure why the two substitutions took so long. 10 mins it took to change formation. Why ?? If everyone can see what needs to happen why does it take olly so long to do it ! As for having a go at the fans why not play a better style of positive football and attract people to come and watch . I think you can see for the last 20 mins we have the players good enough , I just think they are badly managed , starting formation is my biggest issue and why we are always chasing games . Dodgey red card vs a poor side at home saved us today ! Not convinced in the slightest.
I thought we did well in the first half. Made plenty of chances, mostly through Smith, didn't see much of Washington. I began to think back wishfully to the days of Charlie Austin. Bolton were pretty poor, though they did manage to bring a fantastic save from Smithies. In the second half, our midfield seemed to go missing. The ball was going horizonally across field between our backs and back again, and there was difficulty making any headway into Bolton's half. The sending off was a turning point, and from then on, we looked dominant. Not wholly persuaded today, but the performance was better than I've seen in the last couple of games.
