That was my first thought too.

Does anyone have any info on Kakay? I know he was on the bench a lot last year but know little else. What type of player is he? I'll assume from the lineup that he's at RB - is that his preferred position?

Yes. Played a few times last season and always looked fine. Athletic, reasonable cross on him and don’t remember him being embarrassed defensively.

Just back... BFG2 was captain today, do not think it means much.
Think it was 4-4-3.....
The way BOS and Eze played together was amazing...BOS must start... Freeman looked a bit isolated out wide, but was well disciplined and grew into it.

Eze pass to BOS for first goal
Easy Smith header I could have scored for no 2 ( if I was 6'4")...and Eze won a soft penalty and Freeman and Eze had a little play scuffle before Eze scored a super confident penalty. Ingram looks very commanding and bigger in goal...sure now he is our No1.

Defence relatively untroubled. Kakay very athletic and fast, they only got past him once...I can remember.

Wholesale changes about 65-75 minutes. Which amounted roughly to Manning for Scowen, Baptiste for Kakay, Conor for Smith, Cousins for Mass...and Smyth for BOS....nothing really happened after that.

But it was amazing the WHOLE of the upper loft was sold out to Union. Sea of red and white....and they sang ALL THE TIME..when we scored...they sang louder...and they were still singing as we left the ground amazing...I think they did not repeat a song for the whole of the match...and included a German version ifwhen Johnny comes marching home...and Bright side of life...in the original English.
Seb (BFG1)...was interviewed at half time.long-term injury ..resumes training in a couple of weeks. He spoke in English to us, and in German to them...and we had a German announcer talking to them too

And for us oldie season ticket holders..the cost of this amazing afternoon out was £2.50.

RESULT.

At this moment I hate to admit it.. I am optimistic about this season..long may that last.

Just read the Official report. Good to see that our manager is still going to amaze us with his eloquence and command of the English language even though Ollie is no more. Step forward Mr Maclaren. I salute you for your 'Vocality'. Not quite there with some of the classics of our time, especially those emanating from Ron Atkinson but a promising start.

German fans are, in my experience, uniformly outstanding in supporting their team in the stadium, whatever the score.

Sounds promising.

Sounds like a good day out. Wish I'd gone now.

Holloway used to say how Eze and BOS would be dynamite together.

No one will cope with our 4-4-3. It’s genius.

Can someone show me what the team was today please?
I can't get the links on my phone for some reason.

Post1... 999s has put up the team.

You've gone and done it now!

Ingram, Kakay, leitner, lynch, Bidwell
Freeman Scowen, Luongo
Bis, Smith, Eze

Not far from the starting team I would think.
Never said...Bidwell played really well too

MacLaren usually plays 4-3-3 and changes in game if it isn’t working. He doesn’t like one player isolated up front.
I read it as 4-1-4-1 Stan, but that doesn't rule out it having been 4-2-3-1!

Scowen was sitting in front of the defence & Luongo was more box to box with Eze the furthest forward. The surprise to me was how disciplined Freeman was with playing wide on the right.

After today, I would expect BOS to start next week & he has a good understanding with Eze.

I'm not sure whether Freeman wanted to take the penalty, but I think his actions in handing the ball to Eze were playful rather than mischievious.

Thanks for the detailed report.

I think the 4-4-3 set up by McLaren was very original and offensive.

Was it rush goalie? :)
