That's all well and good Kilbs but look who we've got left to welcome to LR I cant see us picking up the same amount of home wins in the second half of the season
You should be OK but you need to score goals (even Burnley are putting in a few at the moment). The only thing that might catch up is when refs cotton on to the serial fouling - once one player is booked for taking out a dangerous player another one takes over - and the cards will add up quickly.
While the last minute goal is hard to take, I'm very glad Bony didn't start. Pretty sure he would have taken at least one of the chances that fell to Gomis (who I thought was very unimpressive) and the Swans would have won. Not too unhappy with our performance level, lots of positives to take from the game, including the performance of Vargas. Onwards and upwards hopefully!
I still don't think that there are that many weaker sides to play away, Burnley will be bloody difficult and so will Hull. Harold has to seriously up the game away from home.....
Have a day off you slob. Both teams could have had a hat full. Redknapp fu*ked up again. Should have went to a five man midfield far sooner. Should have made changes far sooner. Barton should have been hooked on 60 mins (shouldn't even have started), Bobby was knackered 20 mins before he was taken off. Hoilett is Toilett and Austin missed a chance a child would tap in right at the death. We're in big trouble I'm afraid.
Would agree Harry got it wrong - paid us too much respect. The chances at the end were well defended - Austin should have force the save or scored at the very end though. Finishing poor on both sides, but two good goals.
I noticed that he showed a bit of a face later in the game, not long before he was sent off, after a throw-in decision went against him. Good that Karl Henry didn't get involved in that spat, other than clonking Routledge twice in 30 secs. All in all, given the ref decisions favouring us, a draw was likely a fair result, but a game that with some luck we should have been able to stumble over the line with or preferably dominate more by adding a few more goals. Charlie seemed off today with his shots and Bobby should have netted with that header. However, despite the late equalizer, we were still in there at the death with a chance to win it. Hoilett's finishing when nicely setup was rather disappointing.
I took two Italian friends and they thoroughly enjoyed the game and atmosphere. They were both surprised by the total lack of filter by our midfield and i agree.
Very poor result for us. Although if Bony had started we could have been out of the game long before. We're fortunate that Gomis is woeful. We still look void of any real ideas and just simply cannot retain possession when we need to. We were clinging on from the 75th minute in reality. I thought Fer and Vargas played really well, and Isla was solid throughout. Same old story though, the older players (Hill, Zamora, Dunne) can't bail us out throughout a whole season. Against a good side we'll always be found wanting. Unless we bring in some real attacking threats this month I believe we're done for
So bloody disappointing, why oh why can't we defend a lead against 10 men or even 11? As long as Harry sees Barton / Henry as our central midfield axis we are always going to be struggling to dominate the opposition. Barton is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is and Henry lacks a proper outlet to recycle the ball effectively as a result. I pray Sandro is back and fit for the Burnley game and Harry has the balls to drop Barton or else we could lose what is going to be a bloody vital match. The addition of Zarate couldn't come any quicker assuming Harry will actually start him...
