We were sooo close to a clean sheet at least !
Very unlucky, just ruins my weekend. Our midfield just not good enough, to protect and hold the ball.
And worst of all I'm now going to get a whole load of texts from my brother who is a Southampton fan !!! :-)

We were a bit unlucky today but I have felt for some time, since the Swansea home game, this would be our story until the end of the season and that is why we need a manager capable of working in the championship.

We are going down lads and I fear that we will struggle to get to the 25 points we managed last time round, my worst fear is that we will be out of the top flight for a long time. Therefore our infastructure is the most important thing to put our energy into.

Another injury-time sickener, the Bony goal was a blow but this one was a hammer-blow, why oh why can't we see out stoppage time? We are going to be relying on three other sides being worse than us from now on and that's difficult to envisage...

I thought we were much better in central midfield today with Fer in his natural position. It meant that Barton no longer had to try to compensate for his partner's lack of passing ability. The wide players let them down though. Traore is not a footballer and Phillips lacks confidence.

Never heard of him until recently, but immediately like him, would prefer his honesty rather than a reject spud gromit

It wasn't unlucky though.

Two minutes away from a hard fought draw and that brainless twat Caulker decides the time is right to go on a run into the inside left position. He then gives it away with a crap pass and they break and score.

Totally ****ing clueless!! Will we ever learn?

I was out all day and reading this is always a good way to judge the performance during the game so cheers all.

Sad outcome but some interesting variations in team selection (good and bad IMO) but at least we have someone in at the moment who can see some alternatives to a 442 filled by players who would fit nicely into a 433.

A game so soon after might be a good thing for us.

At least Fer was played in the centre. But Isla should have started at RB and Vargas on the right. Or at least Isla on the right ahead of Ned.
We played 4 CBs across the defence, although I realise that Yun can't of been fit.

It was as near as dam it to 4-4-2, although Taarabt did drop in behind Austin. However he never really joined the other two central midfielders to help out so we were always outnumbered in midfield as usual.
We had no holding midfield player and Fer and Taarabt shouldn't play in the same side imo. Barton was our best player, but he isn't a holding player imo.

I agree that Barton was our best player. Did we miss a holding player? Not in my opinion. Barton and Fer were very good.

They completely ran the midfield. Fer ran with the ball in the wrong areas and never really got up to support. We need someone to sit in front of the back 4 so that the midfield can get get forward to support.

We looked very second rate compared to Southampton imo.

I disagree, we were fine in the centre but we were let down by our wide players. How the **** is Traore getting paid to play football?

We were never really threatening, apart from the sitter Charlie missed.
I liked Zarate, although he was maybe trying a bit too hard.

Strange leaving both the Chileans out imo.

Traore was simply terrible and as my lad said, we were basically playing with 10 men till he was taken off!
