I´m with bakes8 on this one - couldn´t believe we got beat 0-2, sick to death of getting spanked in the Carling Cup to ´inferior´ opposition. Where´s the winning mentality? - Remember this is the only knockout competition cup we have won!!! Not good - fed up with these mid-week humilations!!! gonna go and throw a donkey off a church tower now!!!
I think it would have been more bearable if we hadn't played any first teamers. But the fact that we did makes it a very disappointing night for me.
Hey guys, just go back from the game, very dissapointing, they had upper hand in first half, we absolutely dominated the 2nd and they scored a goal against the run of play, are finishing was poor, adel was very wasteful and bothroyd had a bit of a shocker, quite hard to see who's who from up at the top - even with my lenses in! so I can't go into much depth, ****tu played extremely well apart from one lazy giveaway but that was pretty much the story of the game, happened so often, the sub RB Harriman was actually one of the better players, especially considering his age, could have a future i think
Agree with bakes, Norway, Col etc..Wasted oppertunity to build moral and have a winning feeling under our belts. I also think 2 or 3 rounds in this cup keeps everyone sharp and valuble game time of a competitive nature for the 2nd string, personally I believe the top teams use this competition to keep their 1st teamers on their toes and that's how we have to develop and build a squad capible of doing this. Very poor and very disappointed as we should wipe the floor with this type of opposition. Night, night
gonna go and throw a donkey off a church tower now!!![/QUOTE] Some agree, some disagree, on the benefit of an early exit out of the Cup.........but I think we all agree that the image of a shower of donkeys thudding off church towers is a brill way to finish a ****e nite! Good man Madrid! Ole!
It was a cup game Brix so therefore we all knew we wouldn't win it. I opted to nip with the wife to the thai restaurant in holmesfield for a pre-Wigan slap up and a few large singhas. I can recommend the pad thai gai and also the chilli squid salad very highly. I notice that the canaries and the swans also had off days. Disappointing I agree but if it means we have a solid first team to do Wigan for 3 points then I will defer to warnocks selection. Shame to see the competition of our finest hour as a club diminished and it mocks my moniker however that's modern football.
Gotta disagree about Harriman he was lightweight, off the pace and only won one header, looked like one of the artful dodgers orphans??

I disagree! I think this was the perfect opportunity to stake a claim for a place in the 25 man squad for this year. Considering it was against League One opposition, I believe they wasted their slim chances. It just goes to show that once again Warnock was right, the players who we have become attached to over the past few years (Cooky, Rowly etc) just arent up to the standard anymore. I also dont believe us getting knocked out will have a negative effect on the team or team morale. Port Vale last year anyone? Didnt seem to have a negative effect. If anything Warnock has been particularly clever in showing old Tony upstairs that the squad as a whole is lacking strength in depth, thus increasing the realisation that we do infact NEED players and it isnt just a case of Warnock WANTING new players. Just my 2pence...
2 thoughts 1. I'm starting to dislike our home kit; already in two games we've shipped 6 and scored none, whereas in that much maligned mango and blue......a completely different story. 2. Before we kicked a ball this season there was a lot of talk about making a fortress of Loftus Road and making the opposition feel totally uncomfortable there; Couldnt be more wrong; I think they're going to be packing their carpet slippers and loungers and wearing shades from now on
Southcoast, I am basically saying the same thing the morale I am talking about is getting the 2nd string playing more competitive games therefore putting pressure on the 1st team players which in turn should up their performance therefore 25 man squad issue we are making the same point. Also agree with getting knocked out and negative effect, my point is purely that this is a chance to play more as NW is always saying reserve matches don't bring out the best in players. your 3rd point is another issue and it maybe a ploy but not sure?
Rochf**kingdale won't be so smug when they win the CC but end up getting relegated; we're too clever to fall into a trap like that, no sir....
not come on here to gloat....just to get fans feedback on the Dale.... reading all the posts, it seems a very frustrating night for guys.....yes, it was a cup game, so we would probably have been up for it more than qpr, but we do seem to go into EVERY game as a cup game, we just don't get the rub of the green in league games! reading the other sites, jones' goal was a quality taken goal, even you fans were applauding it and applauding us after the final whistle, and full credit to them for doing so....i can't believe that warnock would have been happy to lose....if thats the case, he shouldn't be at the helm!!!!! i watched your match against everton on saturday, and you were worthy winners....why did smith get taken off? injury?? i've got quite a few everton mtes over/under/down here, so they are going to get it when i see them..... tbh, i'm sick of watching everton, they're on foxtel every other week....only prob cos cahill plays for them. anyway....all the best for the season in the prem, esp. against "manure".........
