After relegation was confirmed last weekend following defeat to Manchester City, Chris Ramsey’s charges will be keen to right the wrongs of that display when the Geordies come to town for the Hoops’ final home game of the campaign. John Carver’s side are themselves embroiled in the scrap for survival towards the foot of the table, with the Toon Army currently sitting in 17th place, just two points clear of Hull City, who occupy the remaining relegation spot. The visitors head to Loftus Road on the back of gaining their first point in nine fixtures last weekend, thanks to a 1-1 draw at home to West Bromwich Albion. That result followed eight defeats in a row for Carver’s men, prompting showdown talks between the St. James’ Park hierarchy and the management and playing squad. Carver described it as the ‘toughest week’ of his life, but was pleased with the ‘huge point’ against the Baggies, which ended their abysmal run. Rangers will recall Nedum Onuoha from suspension this weekend, but Sandro remains unavailable. The Geordies, meanwhile, have Daryl Janmaat available again following a one game ban, whilst Gabriel Obertan and Roland Aarons are likely to return. Siem de Jong and Adam Armstrong remain sidelined, as does Mike Williamson (suspended). Newcastle United – Likely line-up (4-3-3): Krul; Janmat, Colccini, Dummet, Gutierrez; Sissoko, Taylor, Colback; Perez, Riviere, Cabella image: http://www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/star-man-newcastle64-2094944.png please log in to view this image Tim KRUL (Goalkeeper) Towering goalkeeper Tim Krul may be Holland’s second-choice custodian but he is firmly number one at St. James’ Park. The Dutchman, who signed a new five-year deal in 2012, arrived from hometown club Den Haag in the summer of 2006 and has emerged through the ranks to become a key player in the Newcastle first team. Following injury in 2006 to then-first-choice goalkeeper Shay Given, Krul was promoted to the bench as back-up to second-choice Steve Harper. But after returning from loan spells at Falkirk and Carlisle, Krul continued to impress – and has made the number one jersey his own. image: http://www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/pre-match-talk-qpr-v-newcastle64-2457337.png please log in to view this image R’s captain, Joey Barton: “Our fans, like us players, are obviously devastated that we’ve been relegated. “But we really appreciate the support that we’ve been given this season. We intend to finish the campaign as well as we possibly can. “We’ve got two football matches left to win. You have to keep your integrity as a football club. We don’t want to finish bottom of the league. That’s got to be the aim for us.” Geordies midfielder, Moussa Sissoko: “QPR is a massive game for this team and the Club. “When you play in the Premier League it doesn't matter where the team are in the division - every game is different but every game is hard. “QPR are already relegated but will still make it difficult for us because they now have no pressure on them. What is important is that we go there with confidence, a week of good training behind us and go to win the game.” image: http://www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/bet-victor64-1830333.png please log in to view this image QPR win: 2/1 Draw: 5/2 Newcastle United win: 13/10 image: http://www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/last-meeting-qpr-v-newcastle64-2457338.png please log in to view this image Newcastle United 1, QPR 0 – Premier League – Saturday 22nd November 2014 Scorer: Sissoko image: http://www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/head-to-head-qpr-v-newcastle64-2457339.png please log in to view this image QPR wins: 16 Draws: 8 Newcastle United wins: 23 image: http://www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/match-officials-qpr-v-hull64-1830305.png please log in to view this image Referee: L Probert Assistant Referee: R Ganfield & A Garratt Fourth Official: N Swarbrick image: http://www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/match-coverage-qpr-v-hull64-1830308.png please log in to view this image Whether you’re at Loftus Road or not on Saturday, Rangers fans across the globe can enjoy a whole of host of exclusive content – both before and after our clash with the Geordies – on QPR Player. Would be nice if we could have a start like this today - Tim must be doing his nut (although Villa are almost safe). 4-0 now (Shane Long). Villa fans going home? According to our friends at Opta, Sadio Mane's three goals were scored in two minutes and 56 seconds, making it the fastest hat-trick in Premier League history. GOAL Southampton 3-0 Aston Villa - Sadio Mane Unbe-ruddy-lievable! Sadio Mane has scored three goals in three minutes as Villa fall spectacularly apart. The ball is played across the edge of the box and finds Mane in acres of space to side-foot a shot into the roof of the net past the dive of Shay Given. GOAL Southampton 2-0 Aston Villa - Sadio Mane Terrible news for Villa. Sadio Mane makes it two goals in a minute to give the home side a form grip on this game. It is shocking defending from Villa, with a backpass that falls short of Shay Given and allows Mane to pops the ball into an open net. The R’s will be keen to put on a show in front of their loyal fan base at Loftus Road and wrap up their Premier League campaign with a win in their last home outing. QPR will be hoping that their keeper Rob Green delivers one last big performance in front of the home fans to tie off the season. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he has made 128 saves so far this season, at an average of 1.91 saves per goal conceded. He is looking for his second clean sheet in four in order to further boost that ratio. One man who has performed consistently for the R’s this season, is centre midfielder Leroy Fer. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index can reveal that he has won 53 tackles so far this season, 70.7% of his overall attempts, also making 24 interceptions. On the ball he has made 467 passes in the opposition area, completed a squad best 55 dribbles and also added three assists and five goals to his game. Up top, Charlie Austin has been the main threat for the R’s all season long. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index reveals that he has hit the target 50 times so far this season, testing the keeper with two in every three shots. He has converted 17 of those chances into goals, and his assist tally of seven shows his team involvement. He is 33/25 to score anytime with 888sport.com.
