    But where's the confidence, the ruthlessness the desire to want to play football and see games out on the front foot?

    When we play with freedom and abandon we've shown we have talented players who can do that, so why sit back and invite a goal?

    For me the best sides are those that defend by being offensive. Keep the ball, move the ball quickly and sustain good possession as far away from your own goal as possible.

    We do none of that, it's just timid, pathetic and embarrassing. To be so scared of a relegated side, won once at home, over 45 minutes with a 1-2 lead is so, so poor.

    All done. Again though our players lack balls (and/or confidence). Meekly went into panic half. Should have hauled HBA off earlier, never came out for the 2nd half.

    What really does it for me about Pardew is that he says the same thing, but can't put a team on a pitch to do it. It just tells me that he's not competent enough - understands a problem, can't fix it. See "corners" for more detail.

    Yeah but the irony is, he most definitely doesn't have the team to play the other way and sit back punting balls up field conceding possession.

    It's weird. We've populated the team with technical players who aren't up for being negative, physical, sitting deep but that seems to be what he's telling them to do.

    Perverse, bloody perverse.
