Yes, the best defeat of the season prob...Althought the difference was that their defence was almost premier league standard snd ours ...ehhrrmm... League one stadard...the numbers could have been different but for the linesmsn and smithies with his wonder saves
Hoilett did more than Phillips in his first few minutes on the pitch. He was superb getting to the byline and pulling the ball back for a goal that should have stood. Hall was absolutely awful and is over rated imo.
I did more than Phillips from South Africa Road. Let's give Hoilett a ten year contract. Hall had a bad game but has had plenty of good ones. Nothing to get too upset about.
It might be a tad unfair to criticise El Khyati(?) too early, but he seems a bit lightweight. As does Luongo. As does Gladwin. Hall & Angella are the new Laurel & Hardy. If Angella is a footballer then I'm Princess Michael of Kent.
Disappointing result a bit fit & starts for hoops, was in upper loft & that ball didn't go out fully, linesman shocking, Phillips very poor again, after pen save it was a kick in the teeth their goal from that corner, poor marking again & the 3rd, all 3 goals very poor to give away, oh well back to drawing board, you must defend better!
Angella and Hall both really poor tonight, all three goals were awful defending. Should have been 3-3 though, nothing wrong with Polter's goal.
Just back in my hotel in glorious East Croydon. My day started off bad as I forgot my passport and only realised at the gate meaning I missed my flight and had to fork out for another one. Met a couple of people I hadn't seen in a while on my flight and in the pub and had a good old catch up. Got into the ground late as we were enjoying our drink so much. I haven't sat in the Ellerslie for a few years now and forgot just how cramped it is in there. Had a seat right on the half way line and about 6 or 7 rows from the front so the view was quite decent even if we were all squashed. Regarding the match, the first thing I would say is that I thought Middlesborough were a really good side so any criticisms I make of our players should be taken in that context. The team we played to me really should be Premier League next season. The two centre halves were not at the races today. The two full backs did much better but were just ok. I love Ale Faurlin to bits but he just had a bit of a mare today. Nearly everything he tried failed to come off and he just had to be subbed and relieved of his misery. Chery I thought was really good and Polter is growing on me with time. He really does give 100%. Here is my big moan - Jamie fecking Mackie. Sorry to any JM lovers out there but the lad is past it. OK he scored but he spent most of the game with his hands on his hips as he was so knackered. Maybe he was carrying a knock, I hope that is his reason for a shocking performance, apart from the goal. Philips is already on the beach in the Caribbean. I know Hoilett had a lot of travel in the past few days but he has been the man in form and if I was the Manager, I would have started him ahead of Mackie. Overall, I enjoyed my evening. I thought we did ok against a really decent side but the Manager must improve with his selections and with an eye to next season.
I wouldn't argue with you over that post. Still not sure what JFH sees in Nasser and Luongo. Gladwin I will reserve judgement till I see him play.
Just got back and I'm pissed off and pissed ! Smithies is a fantastic keeper and we would've got hammered 2nd half without him,our defence was ****ing shocking.Hall has been out injured, but that was awful defending for their first,2nd goal was just pathetic from Angella and Phillips(what a waste of ****ing oxygen that laxy **** is),3rd disgusting from Onouha, gotta go in the summer.Jimmy should've had Hoilett on at half time for Phillips and Washington on for Polter! I know he's scored a few recently, but **** me he's awful. What was the point of buying Washington and not playing him, bringing him on with 5 minutes to go and playing him where? ****ing clueless. We need 2 proper centre halves in the summer, the one's we've got are pony(apart from Clint, shocking) a midfielder who can control the game(I'm sorry but Faurlin is just plain average),proper full backs,at least one decent winger and an out and out goalscorer ! I'm seriously pissed off with tonight, and seriously pissed,so I'm ****ing off now. Really rate Smithies though, nite all.
Just glad this game didn't occur with us still in the running for a possible play-off spot. What theatre, allowing a goal from the corner following a brilliant penalty save, then an unfairly disallowed goal, could only happen only happen to us. That goal chalked off really irks me as Hoilett showed such determination to put that cross in and ended up taking quite a tumble in the camera pit. With video replay, within a few secs the ref would have got a message in his ear informing him that the ball clearly stayed in play. My disappointment at our result this evening was put in perspective on today learning that the young auto parts guy I dealt with passed away from a heart attack two weeks ago aged just 30 years old (I had phoned him to order some parts required for my motor vehicle inspection unaware of this). He was a really nice guy, always helpful and provided me with excellent customer discounts. I wasn't aware that he was asthmatic and apparently he was in line at the pharmacy to pick-up a new inhaler puffer when he suffered a heart attack and collapsed, then a second one en route to the hospital. He leaves a partner and seven kids (a son and six daughters), so very sad for his family, absolutely tragic. I note that his father passed away just two years ago aged 55.
Hall, Angella and Faurlin all had shockers. Smithies different class, really hope he doesn't get poached. Thought Henry had a decent game and the Polt was a beast all night. Agree Phillips isn't offering anything at the moment, would seriously consider keeping hold of junior. Would like to see more of Connor. Lino stitched us up good and proper. Peed off at the result but there is promise in thus team for sure.
That is just awful Kilburn. 30 years of age is so young. He was a busy lad producing 7 kids before he was 30. Having relatives going through a period of sickness is very worrying for anybody. RIP auto parts guy.
I don't recall comparing him to Stan Bowles. I stand corrected if I did. I think I may of said he was a bit of a Taarabt lite. Although he didn't impress one iota at MK away or tonight. He's one of those rare players that have the potential ability to get you up out of your seat. If he is given a run of games and a boost in confidence we may see this. I don't think coming on when we were 3-1 down helped. We'll see. Not a bad first half tonight, we looked okay but lacked penetration in the final third. We started the second half, half cocked while Boro came out with all guns blazing. It was men v boys. We had too many players who were not good enough or good enough that didn't apply themselves enough. We might as well stop playing the players that won't be here next season and get the one's that will be bedded in. We should use the rest of this season as an extended pre-season. The results don't matter anymore. We're not going anywhere. (Isn't that the definition of purgatory? ) It shouldn't be. Despite the result it was a good game with plenty of passion on the pitch and in the stands. My second daughter with whom I struggle to get to go, loved it, and became very animated towards the ref and lino after the second half incident. '' I really want to get on the pitch and tell that bald bloke what I think of him dad. '' She can't wait for the next game and would prefer it to be a night one.
I suppose it was an entertaining game for a neutral, but pretty **** for a home supporter. The officials hurt us, but a draw would have been more than we deserved. Some very poor performances (Perch, Onuoha, Hall, Angella, Faurlin, Phillips) and only one or two positives (Smithies, Chery and a cameo from Washington). Mackie was Mackie and Polter was Polter - both very ordinary footballers but they try so we love them don't we. They could be the Two Ronnies of next year's Championship.
Stroller, my days of loving Jamie Mackie were 5-6 years ago when he was much younger and he could run. Today, he really looks like a 30 something trying to compete against much younger and fitter 20 somethings.Sad but true.
