QPR v Manchester United (Sunday, 1200 GMT) Games like these are what QPR are in the Premier League for - playing Manchester United at your place. Despite defeat, QPR were competitive against Liverpool last weekend but with United just two points behind their rivals City now, they've got the bit between their teeth. Everyone has been raving about how good City have been, but United are right on their tail. Even so, I feel Edwin van der Sar has been a great miss for them and they haven't replaced Paul Scholes, while Nemanja Vidic's absence for the rest of the season could prove to be the difference between winning and not winning the title. Sir Alex Ferguson might dip into the transfer market in January, but they type of player he wants might still be playing in the Champions League so why would he want to move to Manchester United, who are now out of it? But that is further down the line. On Sunday, I can't see where the goals for QPR are coming from. Prediction: QPR 0-2 Manchester United Here are all of Mark Lawrenson's 160 Premier League Predictions for season 2011-12, together how the League Table would look like if his forecasts were all correct... http://www.myfootballfacts.com/Mark_Lawrensons_Predictions_2011-12.html
Cerny set to get nod over Kenny QPR goalkeeper Radek Cerny is set to keep his place for Sunday’s game against Manchester United. Paddy Kenny has returned to full training following his recent injury, but manager Neil Warnock has decided to give Cerny the nod for this weekend’s match. Cerny, 37, was outstanding in Rangers’ 1-0 defeat at Liverpool last time out. He started the season as the club’s third-choice keeper behind both Kenny and Brian Murphy, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury. http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/cerny-set-to-get-nod-over-kenny/?
RIO TIPPING QPR TO 'KICK ON' Posted on: Fri 16 Dec 2011 Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is tipping QPR to 'really kick on' in the second half of the season. The England centre-half, who could come up against his brother Anton at Loftus Road on Sunday, has been an interested spectator so far this season and believes the future is very bright in W12. Speaking exclusively to 'London Call-In' - our new midweek phone-in show - Ferdinand said: "I think QPR should probably have more points on the board than they currently do. "Obviously I take a lot more notice of their games and their results now Anton is there. "I've seen a few of the games. They deserved more against City, and obviously they beat Chelsea at Loftus Road. "I hope - after the game against us - that they can really kick on in the second half of the season." Ferdinand added: "It always adds extra spice when I'm playing against Anton. "Whether it was West Ham or Sunderland, or now QPR - it definitely adds a bit extra to the game. We also need about 70 odd tickets for all of our family and friends!" As well as tipping QPR for a fine future, Rio is also confident his brother can go onto really make a name for himself in West London. "I've always said that Anton can go on to achieve great things," he said. "As young kids, he was always seen as the more talented player. "He's definitely got the ability to go on and emulate and surpass what I've done - I genuinely believe that. "QPR can provide that platform for him - his standards will rise as the Club's do. "The project at QPR really suited Anton. QPR are a very ambitious Club, and the Manager is the right man for him at this time of his career." With league leaders Manchester City not playing until 4.00pm on Sunday, United could return to the top-of-the-table with victory in W12 and Ferdinand added: "There's always things riding on games when you play for United. "We know if we win we can go top, albeit for maybe a few hours, but it's neither here nor there. "As long as we're top when the season finishes, that's all that matters." As for the trip to Loftus Road, the England ace said: "I used to go to watch QPR as a kid when Les was there, and Roy Wegerle, Ray Wilkins and all those guys were doing their thing. "I know what Loftus Road is like and what to expect. "It's a tight little ground, with lots of character. "It will be a good, new experience for many of the lads but something we're all looking forward to." iReader
