Oslo - is Luongo match fit? If so it does open options in defensive midfield or the no.10 position. I agree with these minor fine tunings, but the danger is that we do not play the winning team. But Sandro should definitely not start in my opinion as it will be a waster of a sub.

I do hope that Sylla and Wszołek start, as dropping the goals scorers in our current predicament will be a crazy message.
I don't know if Luongo will be fit or not, just got the impression it was not a bad injury Saturday.

My team would be, 4-3-3 (4-5-1)

-----------------------Smithies-----------------------

Onouha---------Hall---------Lynch-------Bidwell

-------Manning-----Borusiuk------Luongo-------

Mackie---------------------------------Washington
-------------------------Polter-------------------------

A very good line-up, but I would not drop Pawel or even Cilla if he is fresh enough.

Absolutely, my concerns re. Shodipo playing in front of Bidwell in a nutshell. I do feel sorry for Conor, as we've never really played him centrally just off a target man, which is apparently his strength, and he's being judged by too many solely on his lack of goals playing the lone striker role. Based on the effort I've seen him put in I'd love him to come good and prove the doubters wrong. In the meantime needs must, and based on Saturday, when he came on, shored up the left and freed Mackie to create havoc on the right, he must start there tomorrow.

It's a fair point about Washington and surprising perhaps that he was only given the one chance by Ollie to do so. However a natural goalscorer will score wherever he is played. he has had a whole season after all and two goals is pathetic for the amount of game time he has had. One cannot ignore the fact that players who can only play in one position are frankly useless in the Championship. Perhaps he has not told the gaffer. Perhaps he should.

Great write up as always 9's, thanks. The Christmas break has bought me back to London, and Ipswich are my father-laws team, so I plan to lose my voice this afternoon as we give them a spanking.

I know, it's clear I don't manage to get to many games, hence my delusion, but you never know!

Got a mate coming down from Hemel for the game and am meeting him the Cunningham. Used to park in Becklow Rd when I drank in The Greyhound but has any got any idea where he can park please?

We should be looking to play as close to the last team as possible.
We have to build confidence, so both goal scorers must stay in. The reward for giving us the goals we so need should not be being dropped.
Those that may tire, like Mackie or even the young lad Manning, may need to play 60 mins. So good subs for them needed.
Sandro is unlikely to be fit enough so needs to be replaced - as we can't afford another substitute for him.
Otherwise - lets go out with confidence that this group can get another win by sticking together and showing what we can do.
Making too many changes would, in my humble opinion, be madness.

Probably Westfield would be his best bet....

Apparently today's game is being shown on BEIN Sports so should be a stream for it........not sure if that is a good thing or not......

Usually like your posts yorkshire but can't agree with this. A natural goalscorer won't score wherever he is played at all. Left back or even keeper?? Washington has not had the chances to prove his worth in my opinion regardless of how long he's been with us. A blind man could see that he's a striker who plays off someone not a lone striker or left winger. Reminds me of when redknapp used to play vargas on the wing, what a waste!! For me it would be Washington up top every week with polter/cylla. Unfortunately managers now seem reluctant/scared to play a standard 4-4-2 which I find bizarre as one up top just enables opposing full backs to push forward

I thought the argument against 4-4-2 is that your midfield gets swamped. But then again that doesn't apply to us, because we could play 8 in midfield and still be swamped.

If Washington can only be effective playing off a big striker we probably won't see the best of him, unless we switch to 3-5-2 (didn't Ollie try that) or a flexible 4-3-3. All a bit academic.

From what I've read of the last game, Mackie and/or Yeni played that position. I still don't know what Yeni is supposed to be doing. Would rather see just about any of our various other options there.

That is very interesting news. It will be a good opportunity to test my new KODI TV Box which had MOBDRO and SportsDevil installed on it today (courtesy of my eldest). I just need to get home after work in time!!!!

(Note: No Bank Holiday today in Poland, but we do have Epiphany, or "Feast of the Three Kings", this Friday 7th January)
