Indeed. But my point is that whilst it's stressful as **** when Bruce takes off his strikers, it rarely results in catastrophe. There certainly isn't dozens of examples and none in the league this season. Admittedly, we didn't finish with any strikers on the pitch at Leeds and lost, but we didn't start with any either. An entirely different kettle of **** up.
There's been times that we've done it and got away with it, but it still put us under completely unnecessary pressure. Maybe dozens was inaccurate, it just feels like it's happened a lot, attack is a far better form of defence in my opinion. We did finish with a striker against Leeds, Akpom came on at 71 minutes, though you can be forgiven for not noticing.
I hate to agree with Bruce's critics but as I said in an earlier post, not swapping striker for striker & midfielder for midfielder almost cost us. It did affect us by changing the shape unnecessarily twice, still trying to readjust & ultimately they broke & scored.
Son, as a Police Officer, I get spat at, sworn at, bitten, you name it. So try and be a little more original. Or is that the summit of your insults!.. read what your daughter thought about you 'your words' on another thread. Take a good look… 4/10 Must try harder..
Must try harder after you post that pile of ****. ****ing hell. Disappear back to where you came from ****ing wum
I can understand taking a striker off when you have been playing with two up front but taking a striker off when you have one up front is a bit extreme. Before our comedy goal winner I was thinking that Bruce would be in for a lot of criticism.
You have a short memory, we were ****ing abhorrent. But they were too. It had 0-0 written all over it until Elmo and McGregor had that clusterfuck. It wasn't just Elmo's fault, McGregor had plenty of time to let it run or hoof it clear.
Having a striker on the pitch keeps the opposition defence quiet as well. Take them all off and you allow their defence to be used in the attack and the ball will spend more time in our half thereby giving them statistically a better chance of scoring
There are a few of us that have said Meyler needs a rest, as it is pointless playing him unfit. I was shocked he was anywhere near the last two, but then again ...
But that's not really what happened at QPR, what difference does it make whether it's Hernandez or Diamé up there? The enemy defenders still have a body to worry about when they know it's someone of Diamé's quality, who previously ran past 4 or 5 of their players as if they weren't there to set up the goal.
As someone already stated, and it should be pretty obvious, messing about with a system that's working with a few minutes left is only going to cause problems with adjustments. I don't know why some won't admit it. Supporting Steve Bruce even when he makes very questionable decisions doesn't make you a better supporter.
When Hernandez came off it was to have the midfield more solid & full, it didn't work so he banged Dio on & adjust back to what it was previously, allowing a bit of space to open up for them to get in behind.
No I scrape the money together for a season ticket in the North Stand and sell some stuff on e bay to cover away games…
Some people obviously just don't agree, I personally couldn't care less what anyone thinks of me as a supporter because I don't value myself in terms of dedication to a football team.
