Actually if everyone thought '**** it, I'm going to work as little as I can to get the lifestyle I want' then many may work less than 5 days a week, more people would be employed to fill the gaps and the world would be a happier and more relaxed place IMHO

I don't think that most people would be happier being on even less income.
There's plenty of things needing doing in the world for everybody to be employed full time.

I am much happier now I work for myself and take a much smaller salary than when I was employed. I don't work weekends and take about 10 weeks holiday a year actually going places not just sitting at home. The plus is how much more time I can spend with / on my kids and not how much I have in a bank account.

On the other side of the coin are those who get paid a huge salary and yet still need to fiddle their taxes to get even more despite having enough to pay for every desire.

Good job we're not all the same.

True that.....i've got friends who do similar jobs to me and live in London and earn 2-3 times a year more, but live in 2 bed flats with an hour commute each way to work whilst i'm in a nice house 5 min cycle ride into work and get to see my boy every day before and after work

    In short a shopkeeper.
I used to work for a west European machine manufacturer, and when the iron curtain came down I helped local importers and distributors set up their service and part departments. When they were able to stand alone my work came to an end, so i opened a shop selling parts for those machines.

Nice one, sounds good. Looks like an opportunity presented itself and you took full advantage. As the Yanks would say 'way to go'.

    QPR Performance Pleases Pennock

Tony Pennock hailed his side's performance in Friday’s 6-2 victory over QPR, as the Under-21s maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a sixth win in eight games.

Goals from Greg Luer (3), Calaum Jahraldo-Martin, Jarrod Bowen and Conor Townsend secured all three points against a strong QPR side that included four first-team players in Alex Smithies, Samba Diakite, Yun Suk-Young and Michael Doughty in the their starting line-up, much to the delight of Pennock.

“It was yet another very pleasing performance from the lads,” he said.

“The effort and commitment from everyone involved was first class. As a team, we worked fantastically well together and it was nice to see them get their reward with another three points and plenty of goals.

“We’ve been guilty of missing chances in some of previous our games, but we corrected that on Friday, which was another pleasing aspect of our performance. We scored some good team goals, along with some fine individual strikes as well.

“We saw how strong their line-up was before the game, with four first-team players in the starting XI, so we knew we were going to be in for a tough game.

“Full credit to the lads though, we started brightly and got an early goal which was no less than we deserved.

“Although it was disappointing to concede a penalty to let them back into the game, we bounced back well to lead 3-1 at the break before going on to win 6-2 with what was a convincing second half display.”

Pennock described his side’s fourth goal ten minutes into the second half – scored by Bowen – as the key goal in the U21 Professional Development League 2 clash at the west London outfit’s Harlington Training Ground.

“I know every goal is important but Jarrod’s really was the key goal of the game. Having gone in at the break 3-1 up, we knew the next goal was going to be the important one.

“Who scored the next goal was key to how the game was going to unfold in the second half and thankfully it was us, which allowed us to kick on and win the game.”

Although delighted with all of his players’ performances in the comprehensive win, Pennock singled out Greg Olley and Harvey Rodgers for individual praise.

“I must mention Greg and Harvey because they both started their first games in some time against QPR, although that didn’t show in their performances.

“They’ve both been unfortunate not to have had more minutes on the pitch this season, but for those two to come into the side and perform how they did was very pleasing.

“Their attitude in training, when they haven’t been involved, has been first rate and a great example to everyone else in the squad.

“Although they’ve been disappointed not to have had more game-time, they haven’t let it affect the way they train and they’ve applied themselves as we would expect – like professionals.

“It’s important that any of the lads who aren’t playing as much as they would perhaps like do exactly the same.

“It’s all about taking your opportunity when it comes and credit to both Greg and Harvey for the way they performed on Friday.”
