so you think with the investment that has been made by TF we should all me over the moon that we are in a worse position than before him?
Dull, dull, dull. Henry, Fer and Tozser - nothing from those 3. Sandro and Phillips better, but still very average. Hoilett had a go at least. Very disappointing day. QPR shouldn't be allowed to own a dog, they can't hold on to a lead....
Squad rotation yes for no Faurlin but if he was doing squad rotation properly then he wouldn't of played Fer, Henry and even Phillips. Luongo over Henry or Toszer would have added balance. Fer up front a clear error. 7 out of 10 outfield players being defensive killed the tempo and the crowd. From his approach and Burton and misjudging the situation here I want him and Ferdinand out. Warnock till the summer than go for Warburton and Weir
Sky highlights....make your own minds up..... http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/10112715/qpr-1-1-huddersfield
Probably not but unless he recognises his mistakes and stops playing so defensively and selecting players out of position then it might happen. As for the high pressing question, with a midfield 3 we had today and then 1 **** and 2 out of form and generally out of position in front of them and full backs offering nothing we can't keep any sustained possession. Pressing is hard with games so close and only works in quick bursts. Because we can't keep the ball long enough team pressing doesn't work. And eventually stops happening and then becomes indviduals occasionally pressing who get passed round. Plus Henry never gets there and Toszer is... a tosser Also because Henry, Toszer and Sandro are so close to the back 4 Huddersfield drop 10 15 yards further back and massively outnumbered Fer, Hoilett and Phillips. Knocking it about then winning it back easily when we did try a break. Car crash of a managerial performance today. As bad if not worse than anything Ramsey did
looks like our players are going through the motions. Phillips should have scored and it highlights why he should not be leading the line. Looks like Ned pushed one of their players in the box before Polter scored
I thought that Henry had a very decent game again today Bottom line however is that we've gone backwards in the last 3 games (at least the players showed some fight against Brighton) and it feels like JFH is simply repeating Ramsey 's formations (and therefore errors) Incredible that we don't it seems have a striker who can play on his own when Austin is "injured" We are displaying relegation form at present - very few efforts on goal (as opposed to Row Z), leaking late goals.... I think we will finish lower mid table but that is a shocking indictment of these players and our wage bill
Sir Les has never been a Director of Football before so has come to our club to learn. Problem is he doesn't know what he's doing and as a result is screwing up our club and season.
Maybe our Chairman could publish a job description and objectives for the DoF role so that we can all see what LF is supposed to be doing as opposed to us all guessing what he should be doing
I've been back for a while and I thought I'd delay posting to see if I had calmed down a bit....................................nope!! A team selection every bit as clueless as anything that Ramsey served up. No shape. No cohesion. No pressing. No passion. No Striker!! A team with 6 midfielders, totally out-passed for the entire game. My God, it was ****ing awful! Huddersfield, a team in the lower half of the table, completely out-played Rangers for nearly the whole game. I get that Faurlin probably had to be rested, but Toszer is truly shocking. Why not start with Doughty and Sandro and then replace Sandro with Henry once the Brazilian has reached his usual limit around 65 minutes? Instead, we started with Phillips up front with Fer in behind and Henry on the right!! Then, after 20 awful minutes the game-plan was to play Henry as the play-maker behind Fer, with Phillips moving to the right. It really was clueless, crazy, inept management. No one around us could quite believe what we were witnessing. Surely he had to make a change at half time? Nope!! More ineptitude followed as Polter waited for what seemed like an eternity to come on from the bench. So much so that he had to put his bib back on and warm up again. Finally he replaced the very average Sandro and at least we had some shape. Things improved further once the awful Fer went off to be replaced by Chery (a big hit with the fans, both the removal of Fer and the introduction of Chery). Chery at least tried to move the ball quicker and looked well up for it. If he's doing this on the training pitch it is all the more bewildering that he isn't starting. Polter at least tried and didn't miss an easy chance, unlike Phillips. After we scored, we couldn't get back into their half for the remaining 15 minutes or so!!!! Quite breathtakingly ****! We hardly put two passes together and Toszer and Konchesky were by far the worst two players on the pitch. Huddersfield were good to watch, with their No8, Paterson running the game in midfield until he was replaced. They fully deserved to win the game, not just draw it! If this is the brave new world with Jimmy Floyd Bottlebank, I'll pass thanks all the same! Green - 6 - Looked like he should have done better with the free kick. Ned - 5 - Simply not a full back. Play Furlong!!!! Play Harriman when he's back!!!! Hall - 5 - Not as good as of late. Hardly won a header. Hill - 6 - The usual from Clint and he did win his headers! Konchesky - 2 - One of the worst players I've ever seen in my life (now he's at Rangers). Tozser - 3 - Simply awful and makes Clint look quick! Sandro - 5 - Disappointing and still can't last a game! Hoilett - 6 - One of the better performers on the day. Fer - 4 - Won some headers and.................well that was it! Awful. Henry - 5 - Worked hard, but played poorly. Not his fault that he was played so far out of position. Phillips - 4 - Ineffectual and missed a complete and utter sitter from 6 yards! Subs: Polter - 6 - Tried hard and scored. Chery - 6 - Looked lively and should have started. JET - 5 - Some good long-throws!! Nothing could make me want to go along on Friday. Hull will demolish us if we play like that. 37% possession, at home, with no striker!! Pathetic!!
Nice meet up at the C&S pre match. If it were not my team and had I not paid £35.50 for the privilege the performance would have been quite funny. Nothing serious to report, they were all as bad as each other. Good to see the Big German score, but we didn't deserve it. As soon as it went in Beth said 'too early' and went into doom mode. Green obviously agreed with her, allowing two Huddersfield players unmarked in the wall, which Wells used to good effect. If this team was picked on the basis of what is seen in training I can only assume the ones who don't get in don't turn up to training.
My favourite moment today was when Clint Hill took one flush in the face towards the end of the game and fell to the floor. It was pretty much right in front of us and all around gasped. Clint clenched and raised both fists whilst prostrate and just got up.
The issues at the club come from the very top. We could have Guardiola managing us and it would make little difference. Until the mandate from the club shifts from demanding short term success to actually trying to build something, things will only get worse.
Agreed, but what's that got to do with Bottlebank playing no striker and 6 midfielders at home against Huddersfield, with players out of position and much better options on the bench?
I was going to say something similar to what you've written Col. Today's game was as bad as anything I've seen from us in the last three or four years. None of us downstairs from you could work out what was going on either. What a bloody shambles.
I am the optimistic one.......when not sitting next to Stan. It can only get better. Against Brighton we pressed high, took the game to them.....we always looked a problem....I thought we earned a draw...I would not have felt guilty if we won....I could see where we were going...JFH was the saviour. Today, even seeing the match was the middle match in a week, was baffling. I appreciate he is rotating the squad that contains Sandro and Ale, both delicate flowers. I appreciate he has only one decent striker. But...in this league you can play with a mediocre team and a plan...Huddersfield did today... Brighton every week....with a plan and you can win Poulter looked hungry...Hoillet looks ready... Hall wants to play with Ned...Ned wants to play with Hall. Konch is not as bad as Col says. Henry is not as bad as you all say But we do need a structure and a striker I hope JFH understand s that there are no easy games in this league...they all need to be won...I believe in our Jimmy...it will improve We will against Hull I have had two gin and tonics
Beth, Konchesky was atrocious. His first touch is non-existent and his passing worse than a 10 year old. We won't beat Hull. I've had two whiskeys to numb the pain a little!
