There will be a few changes in the summer but I can't see how we can find new players who are obviously higher quality than those we have got. The competition for the limited affordable talent out there is immense. So the squad will probably be about the same level as individuals as now, which is probably on a par with most in the division. This is where the manager/coach adds value, making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. I'm pretty sure that the difference between us and, say, Huddersfield, is their organisation, game plan and understanding of what their jobs are, rather than them just being better players.

Coaches really are in an exposed position.

It's a tough ask with the players we've got. They don't appear to have the ball skills to play like Barca (personal skills issue?) and they don't seem to move into space to receive the next pass like Barca (personal skills and team game plan issue?) . Something I noticed more than usual on Saturday was the enthusiasm and effort that they sometimes used to press an opponent - sprinting from a distance to close them down - and the ease with which they ended up charging past the opponent into space as the opponent sidestepped them (keeping the ball, obv.). It looked like chasing shadows at times.

We need a way of playing that the players we have can work with. It may not look like Barca - but neither does Leicester (as an example of an alternative approach).

Absolutely, the effort is certainly there. I guess that's the problem we don't have a clear style of play, though you do need to be adaptable our default just seems to be a bit hit an hope.

There's a difference in talent at the top of the division. Brighton and Newcastle at least. Any club that can dispense with Lua Lua as surplus to requirements must have a wealth of talent, and that's borne out by their results. I think a manager's talents include buying shrewdly, and there are opportunities out there. Who knows whether Holloway will take them?

Sadly we have Holloway die hards who are still living in 2000. Speaking to many fans yesterday and basically all said the same thing.

On another note, a big shout out to Tooting, Finglas, Irish R's, Staines, Mouse, and the 'Bracknell boys' who we met in the C&S before the game.

Highlight of the day was in the C and S beforehand, when Finglas got the barman to accept a Danske Bank 10 pound note for a round of drinks. Nothing in the game had anywhere near the excitement of seeing not only the drinks returned but also change.

Forest had a lot of possession in their half, but didn't really do anything with it. Bit like us under BFH

Funny you should say that. Isn't that exactly what Warnock did?. Two players in our team (Taarabt and Faurlin) and the rest workhorses many of whom he brought in at the start of the season on free transfers and miniscule transfer fees. Still can't understand why he does not get the credit he deserves on here. Who on here genuinely thought at the start of that glorious season we had a chance of doing better than mid-table.
