That old posh guy on the 5Live just now nails it: Hughes is a Depressive living in the past. Has to go.
You talk absolute unfathomable bollocks Imaz. You'd clearly be mouthing off about Hughes regardless of whatever result/performance had occurred today. Why are you and Oslo so negative?! Hughes Subs Nelson who played midweek for NZ, and has just recovered from a knee injury, and you use it as a reason to slate his managerial ability? Have you been watching what's happened to our back 4 recently? The number of injuries we've sustained. Brilliant management, bravo Hughes. Hoillet had a stonewall penalty turned down Oslo, watch the replays. Everton's "penalty" in the first half definitely wasn't, Mbia barely stood on the tip of the toe of his opponent, it certainly wasn't a foul. Just what's the point? Does it make some of you happy whingeing incessantly about every game? What did Park do wrong today? After a two week international break, we play a good game, yet immediately the same old record is back on. It's impossible to reason with people who enjoying having something to complain about more than they do having something to applaud.
It's not even as though his legs are gone, just lacks quality which considering he was at Man U shows how good our players really are. It's our manager that is letting us down, the players were magnificent today.
Well makes no difference now whether they were pens or not. We had some very good performances, Traore, Diakite, Granero, Adel, Hoillet all stood out, but it still wasn't enough. I am not been negative saying 1-1 home to a 10 man is not good enough. It is simply the truth - we will be relegated if we continue as we are now, draw or lose at home, lose or draw away, doesn't give enough points, no doubt about it. The false optimism on here is nauseating not the realism.
Guys; I've stayed off of here because i've been quite depressed about our current state, but i'm trying to remain positive. I've been looking at the 2011/12 season and we went 9 games, between 26th November and 15th January amassing 2, yes 2 solitary points. I believe that we are having our bad patch now....... and things will get better. Displays have not been bad, including today's and aside from the Swans game we have not been well beaten. I know that won't satisfy anyone because losing is losing but surely it will mean victories are imminent. Keep the faith
Tony Fernandes on Twitter: "Good point. Lots of work to do. Everton are a top side. We were unlucky with some ref calls. Bring on Arsenal. Ill be there at the Emirates. Lots and lots of positives." Well said big man
I don't think we were unlucky with the refs decisions, certainly no more than everton were? Lots of positives but still not getting enough points Tone
Get real TF! 1 point at home to a team with 10 men is not good enough. Ref decisions went both ways - they had a good shout for a pen, as we did, and the 2nd yellow was not a yellow.
We were decent today, and I though Hughes got it right and Park had a great game, sure he lacks some technical qulaity but we would have lost without him today I'm sure.
My initial take for what it's worth. Opposition: Undoubtedly a quality unit fully deserving of their league position. RANGERS Goalkeeper: More than competent. Unlucky with the rebound that led to their goal. Defence: Much improved bar the positioning for some of the free kicks (especially the one towards the end where we omitted to form a wall!). Midfield: Generally superb and dominant for the most part. Strikers: Abysmal. Manager: Picked the right starters pretty much. Would've preferred Faurlin for Park and Cisse for the lacklustre Zamora. Stay of execution well earned today. Fans: Electric. Great hearing the support not long after their equaliser. Helped the team recover quickly. Overall: Great to see a Hughes team playing with urgency and passion throughout. Maybe desperation fuelled the fire but made for an exciting uptempo game nonetheless. All in all, shame we couldn't get the three points. MotM: Esteban Granero. Last words: Park's performance: For me much better than some suggest above. Right battler with some massive tackles and simple possession-keeping passing. No luck in front of goal but then who'd think he would be? As captain? Nah. So why just a draw against 10 men? Class opposition plus no proper goal scorers. Unless Cisse gets his mojo back, no cutting edge. Midfield often had the ball lined up ready for goal chances - but no one there. Zamora tries his best but he's too slow on the uptake.
I Think that's a pretty accurate summary Brix I expected at best a draw today so I can't be too unhappy with the result
