REF WATCH: MOSS IN CHARGE http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/161012-moss-in-charge-428402.aspx via @OfficialQPR
I only draw it as a 4-3-3 to underline that I can't see how a lone striker can work for us with the current squad. BZ on his own with a defensive midfield miles behind is pointless. We need to play to our strengths and push the midfield as far forward as possible. Play it on the ground and ignore the temptation to have a tall front man with no one feeding (i.e. BZ does not start). The two sets of three must also be completely mobile and interchangeable with each other providing cover forward or back as necessary (as Park does naturally even though his poor form does not merit him a start).
I agree with this, and in particular what you say about playing a target man and no one feeding. We have the players to play quick, fluid, interchanging football mainly on the floor, and we should use them. I'd have BZ on the bench for when we this football hasn't done it, and we need to change things.
So youd rather play just 1 style and have the offside machine play breaking up every attack. 1 style is easy to defend against, thats why we need the option of the target man as well.
As Oslo says, BZ on the bench so the option is available. BZ and Johnson could have worked but sadly that option is no longer available BZ and Cisse may still work if the latter finds form In the meantime there is no point in wasting a spot on a lone target man who has consistently been dominated in the air anyway.
You mean drop our top goalscorer and play the offside machine who has broken up more attacks than any opposition defender? Zamora has 3 goals in 6 games and Cisse has 0 goals in 6 games and has never looked like scoring and has personal problems.
I don't think Zamora has scored or looked like scoring for a few games now. Cisse looks more like scoring to me, and is so much quicker, more fluid, and seems to move far more readily into the space that Adel and Granero provide. Cisse may not be at his best but his form seems to be going in the right direction, while Zamora's is going the wrong way. Zamora is a good target man, but not at all mobile for the sort of game we can play.
Cisse hasnt looked like scoring, he hasnt even been getting the chances and hes the opponents best defender constantly nullifying our attacks. He doesnt need to be mobile, the 3 behind him are there for that, hes there to occupy the defenders and to pick up any rebounds and ugly goals like the one at Citeh.
Ugly goal? The one at Citeh? I thought that one was a cracker, first time shot leaving Hart for dead. More of those please.
He was pretty close to scoring against hammers - amazing shot their keeper did very well to save . about the 38th minute. Take a ganda! He also took a brilliant defense splitting pass from Adel that Zamora wouldn't have got close to until after breakfast next day, shot too early and straight at the keeper, but that was the kind of move that could win us games. Mind you, I'll take the uglies happily, but Cisse does them too!
I was thinking of the one yard header he got after Johnson fired in a 25 yarder, maybe it was another game.
That was Zamora in September. I thought you were referring to Cisse's strike in the infamous game last season!
Being top scorer at QPR so far this season is meaningless given the overall results. MH badly needs to rethink. Hopefully he will have the opportunity to build a settled back 4 even if the resources available there are not really adequate. For attacking options we are spoiled for choice so I really don't see why he would stick with a format that hasn't delivered goals thus far. Its true Cisse hasn't delivered yet but we all know he is capable and alongside Taarabt and Hoilett the prospect is mouthwatering. If 'top scorer' BZ has to relegated to the bench to give this a go then so be it.
Thats what I was referring to, Zamoras ugly goals, the type HH used to get. Zamora has a strike rate of 1 in too and has done fantastic with the limited service. Zamoras finishing hasnt bee the problem, its the lack of chances coming from the wingers which Taarabt and Hoilett will rectify. Its not Zamora that hasnt delivered.
Billy Rice ‏@dangerrice #QPR conceded joint most headed goals in the league. Everton scored most headed goals in the league. = _______________________________________________________ Said it last season, we were vulnerable to crosses & it hasn't been addressed.
