I just want to let folks know that the 16 match tickets arrived in the post this morning. They were posted to me on 15th October and arrived today, 27 days later. There is a stamp on the envelope to say the letter was returned from THAILAND. Yes, bleedin Thailand. Can you believe it?
Glad to hear those Charlton match tickets have arrived. My stadium tour ticket actually arrived here in Canada just 5 days after ordering. I'm having problems regarding a QPR football programme order that I made off eBay on July 26th that has still not arrived well over 3 months later. To take a trip down memory lane, my original intent was to just buy the two 1966 Birmingham League Cup semi-final programmes. Since the seller's eBay auction listing indicated £2.50 shipping to Canada for 1st programme, with no additional shipping for other programme orders placed at the same time, I decided to pick up a few more. When I recently asked for my order status, this is how the seller responded to me:- "You bullied me into charging only £2.50 for postage to Canada....so thats the amount of postage i put on it. That will be why it is slow getting to you." I note one of these programmes is a game against S K Brann Bergen, so perhaps I'll get a Norwegian surprise like you did Finglas? My order included the following QPR programmes:- QPR v Birmingham City League Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg 7/02/1966 Birmingham City v Queens Park Rangers League Cup Semi-Final QPR v Arsenal Mercantile Credit Trophy 31/8/1988 Queens Park Rangers v Tottenham Hotspur FA Cup Final Cardiff City v Queens Park Rangers 27/9/69 Manchester Utd Home Programmes 1975/76 Div 1 Queens Park Rangers v Manchester City 24/8/68 Liverpool v QPR 7/9/1968 QPR v Chelsea 14/09/1968 Queens Park Rangers v Southampton 28/9/68 Queens Park Rangers v S K Brann Bergen 15/9/1976
Kilburn, I'm no expert on e-bay but something sounds fishy to me about your purchase. July 26th is three and a half months ago. How much did these programmes cost you? I don't know what the procedures are on e-bay but a call to their customer service department might solve/resolve the problem. I would say to the seller that they have a week to deliver the goods to you in Canada or provide you with a full refund. Good luck with sorting it out.
Initially, late one evening here, for sentimental reasons I was just trying to locate the Bournemouth v QPR match programme (Oct 1966) from the Division Three promotion season/League Cup winning season, since it was the first game my Dad ever took me to. I couldn't find that one, but did find the two legs of the QPR v Birmingham League Cup semi-final game programmes from that season (thought there might be some interesting reading material in them), so ordered them, and since shipping to Canada was listed as £2.50 with free shipping if additional programmes ordered at the same time, I picked up a few more from the same seller - the programmes were around £1.75 each, so not a major amount, but the seller then wanted me to pay £2.50 shipping for each one - now back then I recall some of these these 6d, 1 shilling programmes consisted of just a few sheets of paper, so certainly not heavy, and 10 or so packaged up together would weigh no more than a small book. I argued the shipping point with the seller, since his auction listing clearly indicated - free shipping to Canada if extra items ordered (I even offered to pay the actual shipping amount, but not £27.50), but it appears he got pissed off at me over this and just stuffed them into an envelope with £2.50 in stamps on it and mailed it to me, but whatever the case, if lost in transit, returned to sender due to insufficient postage, never sent, still on a tramp steamer somewhere crossing the Atlantic, the package has never arrived here. From his last communication to me, he sounds like a bit of a prick:- "You bullied me into charging only £2.50 for postage to Canada....so thats the amount of postage i put on it. That will be why it is slow getting to you." This is the first bad transaction that I've ever experienced on eBay. I am still attempting to follow-up with the seller and eBay on this. I should have just come over to Kilkenny and grabbed a few of your R's programmes for free - might have even got lucky with that Norwegian one?
Lol. Looks like this one is going to run and run. Good luck with e-bay. Their European HQ is about 3 miles up the road from me if you need a hand sorting it out.
This information is for Irish R's travelling over. I know some of you are not regular visitors to L.R. I am also proposing an approximate timetable. If people want to do their own thing, that's fine. Just make sure you have your match ticket and train ticket from me before heading off. You can check in now for both flights and print your boarding card at home. You can check in at the airport but they will charge you 70 euros. Do not lose your boarding card as Ryanair will also charge you 70 euros for a reprint. Remember to keep your boarding card in your possession when we arrive in Gatwick as arrivals from Ireland do not need to get in the queues for immigration. 06.30am Gather in Terminal One in Dublin Airport. 07.45am Flight leaves for Gatwick. Upon arrival in Shepherds Bush (10am approx.), we are going to a café in Goldhawk Road for breakfast. Around 10.45am, we are going to the club shop. Meet you there Kilburn around 11am. Around 11.30am, we are going to the Crown & Sceptre for a few drinks and lunch. Yes, more grub. Around 02.15pm, we will be heading to the match. Around 05.00pm,I propose we head to the Connyngham Arms. Is that ok with everybody or would you prefer another pub for post match drinks? Around 07.30pm, we need to head to Shepherds Bush overland station for the train back to Gatwick. 09.55pm, flight leaves Gatwick. I park the car at Dublin Airport in the quickpark car park on the Old Swords Road (www.quickpark.ie). It is 7 euros for the day. You would want to be there for 06.15am to be in terminal one by 06.30am. Last thing, don't forget your passport. That is the only form of photo I.D. that Ryanair accept. As I said, this is only a proposed timetable. If you want to discuss, feel free. Here's to a great day.
Excellent itinerary Finglas - I'll be at there at the club shop to meet you after my stadium tour - I'm really getting excited about the trip!
I think the reason its that cheap is because if you have 4 people travelling you can get a GroupSave ticket which is 4 for the price of 2. Be careful though because one of the GroupSave ticket conditions is you must all travel together. Judo and I may even see you in the pub before the game. Which pub will you be going to?
I know, it's a bit school teacher'ish but there are a few newbies on the trip. For regulars like yourself, it's a doddle. We'll just see you in the C&S.
Me and Will are going to the Charlton game. Not sure what time we'll get to the pub before the game, but we'll definitely pop in and say hello.
Just making a list of who I have match & train tickets for. I appear to be one person short for both. This is slightly complicated by the fact that we arranged the trip over two message boards. I have 16 match tickets as follows, Flanman, Kilburn, Corker, Corker Junior, Me, my Nephew Nathan, My Brother Alan, Inky, Kingdom, Sharon, Scoby Ranger (Brian), Scoby Ranger Nephew, Geo, Cavan Rebel & QPR Meath Noel. That's only 15. For the life of me, I can't figure out who I am missing. A free pint to whoever locates the missing Irish R. Corker, I know both you and Junior do not require train tickets. Belfast R, I know you have your own match ticket.
