I was there and we were terrible in the first half. Both goals were well worked, but in between them it was all Burnley. Luckily they were even worse than us. It doesn't help that our away form heaps so much pressure onto the home games. The crowd seemed a little nervous today and the players almost went to pieces after we went a goal up. The 2nd one knocked the stuffing out of Burnley and they didn't really look like scoring even when we were down to 10 men. Dunne kept Ings very quiet and was MOTM imo.

That don't sound too good mate. Then again, we could point to a game or two where we played well but didn't get our reward (L'pool) so maybe this just evens it up a bit. I'd rather be in our position than Burnley's.

Pretty dire stuff, no one could have complained if Burnley had been 1 up at the break. Which is when I said (or yelled) that we would win 2 - 0, witnessed by Col, Beth, Terry , QPRski (over from Warsaw, great to meet you mate) and Roller. Finish for the first was a bit scruffy, but both goals well worked.

And so the circus moves on. We won't miss Charlie against Everton, as we won't be set up to cross the ball anyway. Couldn't really tell from the stands if he deserved his cards. Don't usually comment on refs as they do a job you could not pay me enough to take on. But this one seemed a little, shall we say, inconsistent.

I can confirm that this is exactly what stan said!

I didn't see much of the first half. Sat with a mate who I hadn't seen for a long time, & spent 45 minutes talking so I had to rely on The Brains Trust to let me know what had happened!

The second half was not great, but we played three bits of real football. Scored from two & nearly had a third from the other move! Harry, we can do it. Let them express themselves more & we will have no problem in staying up.

The more the game went on the better our back five became. Robert Green has become a much improved 'keeper since McCarthy had a match & I thought the back four were determined not to let a goal in.

Dunne MOM? He may have been but I would award it collectively to the back five. By far the best Leroy Fer has played for us & every single one of the fourteen who appeared gave their all. That will do for me!

Got a daft story to share from today....

Waiting for the stands to clear and listening to High Ho Silver Lining, someone drummed their hands on my shoulders and Peter next to me in time to the music.

We turned around and found it to be Chris Kamara who said something along the lines of 'help me over these seats' and proceeded to make his way down the stands from the new press area in Ellerslie Road before dashing onto the pitch.

He was having a good laugh with us and the rest of the fans that helped him down. He struck me as a great fellow with a great sense of humour! <laugh>

Very true. The result was everything today.

Sorry, I'm late to this party due to a very hectic day, anyway just want to add,

GET IN THERE U RRRRsss!

Vety good and important result. We just have to keep on winning these "right matches" and we would be just fine.....

Ditto there, many thanks for the match report and truly great to see our team had another win at fortress Loftus Road!

I think part of our problem is we only ever seem to match the opposition we are playing in terms of quality. We play better against better teams and look as dire as our worst opposition. It would just be nice for once if we could match our best performance and keep at that intensity for more than one game at a time.

Swords, I've learnt that it's best to be optimistic in the face of doom cause it's not worth worrying about till it happens. We are probably in for a hell of a rollercoaster bewtween now and May, but I am confident we will survive this time around.

Just like to add that although it wasn't the greatest of games we actually played some decent football at times, Burnley came with a plan to close us down quickly and hit us on the break and it worked first half, they were the better side and should have been at least 1 up at HT although they did clear one off the line from Vargas....

2nd half they didn't really threaten, as Terry said above the back 5 were very good, Dunne and Caulker are developing very well and Harold please don't play Ned at RB again, Isla provides so much more going forward. Shame YSY didn't score from the peach of a move between him and Fer when we were down to 10 men....

We had a long day, left home at 7am for the 11:30 flight from Dublin and got home at 1:30 this morning but it was enjoyable, the travel worked so well we were having a pre game coffee in Westfield just after 2pm. Even Ian my Burnley supporting mate enjoyed the day except the result!!!! We were sat in Lower School End with Finglas, his brother and girlfriend, so we had a good view of how good the defence played 2nd Half. Great to see Roller, Beth, QPRski and Kingdom for a few minutes after the game. A couple of swift pints and a Thai curry were had in the C&S post game.....good day all round.

Many thanks Seahoop! That will have to do me until I get home and can watch a recording after the Everton game.
