I don’t really care about Cov tbh but of course it would be nice if they lost their game in hand. It’s Boro and WBA that could hurt us. Sunderland are almost certainly going to end up 4th and it’s them who we would face if we end up 5th. The top 3 are fighting it out in a mini-league - and ourselves, Coventry, WBA and Boro are scrapping for 5th and 6th. Obviously we have the advantage at the moment but we have a difficult game ahead Sunderland. Got my tickets for that one!!
Fridays game will be interesting. Sunderland don’t really have anything to play for - they can’t break into the top 2 and they won’t drop out of the top 6. They may even decide to rest key players in preparation for the playoffs. We on the other hand could miss out if we don’t pick up points AND Boro, WBA, Cov and Millwall all put a mini-run together. Squeaky bum time
We’re in pole position because we’ve already got the points and the games are running out, but we still have to keep our nerve and pick up points, 2 more wins should do it, but as you said Squeaky bum time. If we’re successful in reaching the play offs that’s the easy part, the bit after is definitely squeaky bum time. There’s a lot of us older gentlemen on here, I hope our ticker’s are up to all this excitement
I was unable to watch the game vs QPR and so I can't comment on the quality, or lack of, our play but 1-1 was exactly what I thought it would be at the end. My only question is were we worth the full 3 points and did our usual lack of goal power cost us points because from the table as it stands we could have been on the verge of something real special. Being a Bristol City supporters is all about squeaky bum time and it looks like our rear ends won't get a rest until the end of the regular season and the play-offs are a lottery at best. Friday night's fixture against Sunderland has to be a win and combined with some good scores from other places might put us in a driver's seat but I haven't looked at the various options available to get us where we want to be to make the make our season areal good one. I am not too worried about the big clubs because if we can't beat them (Sunderland/Leeds) then we don't truly deserve promotion, although I will take it any way right now. The banana games for me are Luton (either relegated by that time or not) and one of our biggest bogies over the years in PNE visiting Ashton Gate. Wishing games away to get us up is somewhat pointless because without a win against Sunderland it might just all be hopefulness we still have.
Having just watched the highlights, should O’Leary have done better for their goal ? He was also in a weird position and was behind the goal line
I was waiting for usual apologists to comment. It wasn't a 'whipped' cross, it came from 40ft in the air landing on the 6yard line. And why was O'leary behind his line? Ps during the game the QPR commentator reminded everyone of O'leary's complete cock up back at Ashton Gate that cost us the points. Sooner or later, certainly in the summer, Manning will make Max our No2 keeper.
I agree I think Max could have done better for their goal, went down too late imo. But did make a good save with his feet later on, but I think it was just for the cameras
Earthy is becoming a first choice every game and thought we missed Sykes yesterday. The number of headers won in our box by Dickie is critical emphasised by Vyner and O'leary for the QPR goal yesterday. I was pleased, after their goal how we wrestled back control of the game and scoring an excellent team goal. Numerous substitutions in the 2nd half broke up any momentum by either side and a draw imo was a fair result.
First twenty five minutes like the team had been on one in Shepherds bush. Conceded another sus goal. Disappointed in no intensity to start. might be a big cost.
My future son-in-law is a hammers fan and is keeping an eye on Earthy. He recons we have a good chance of keeping him because West Ham need to trim their squad.
