I stayed till the end, but can understand those that left. I didn't even get out of my seat when Smith scored and felt slightly embarrassed when Pigbag was played. It was entirely different when Freeman scored though!
I always stay until the end and I think a good proportion of our fans do. Any other stadium would have been empty. Smiths ‘consolation’ goal didn’t get much reaction but the equaliser made up for it. Not a great match generally but hopefully it might inject a bit of belief into our team
Ian needs to be very careful in my opinion. These are the paying punters and have every right to stay or leave when they desire. To be honest it was pretty poor. Plan B to play direct and try feed off Smith, getting the ball back to front as quick as possible caused them a few problems. It's not pretty but it gained us a point. With his lack of tactical knowledge maybe ian should just start games in this way.
Does anyone remember a last minute win at Swindon circa 2000? Langley got the winner I believe. I left early then saw the goal through a gap in the stands as we were walking round.
I was going to post something similar. With our lack of creativity, we may as well always start Smith and play players that can get the ball into him from wide areas. This doesn't mean pumping the ball forward from everywhere, but getting wide and crossing into the box. Ollie needs to return to basics, especially while we have a lot of injuries and try to get enough points to stay up.
I don't think that we need to over react to Ollie's post match match comments. The match ending was certainly surprising, extremely unexpected and very emotional. I haven't stopped grinning since. Ollie gave the interview at the end of the match and in the heat of the emotions. I understand his point that the team try to give their all and the fans also have their role in supporting. I also understand that there was even some booing at 0-1 which is certianly not constructive and probably played a part in the statement. The message for me is, if you come along then please support as we need you. If your role is only to heckle and complain, then stay away. Alternatively, if your view is "we" as supporters pay our money so can hurl abuse and boo as we wish, then the manager also has the right to his comments. Either way, I don't think that there needs to be a melt down over the statement. I agree that it was un-dyplomatic and probably unfair and hurting to genuine fans who geuinely support but leave early for personal reasons. I am also sure that these words will come back to haunt both Ollie and the board. However, if one were to analyses Ollie's interviews word for word, then you could write write several Ph.D's and still have spare material for your post -doctrate studies.
Of all the things to complain about....an over emotional, over wrought Ollie...who has a pop at the fans who left early, the referee, the opposing fans and their manager....is daft. The players obviously saw the exodus around 80 minutes and a different set of players would have also given up. It was a hell of an evening in which a point was gained in an unlikely and emotional way. We wanted someone who cared about the club and we got him We wanted a team that kept trying even though they were not technically the best and last night we got them. Yes we pay our money to be entertained, but we have our part to play too. Enjoy the moment...ffs please do not go on an Ollie hunt because he told fans off . After Villa he said he was going to really rip the team off...we didn't complain about that.
I think all things considered we’ve been remarkably patient and forgiving over the years. It’s unfair though to take frustrations of the last few years out on this group who may not always be talented but work their socks off.
Agrred. At this moment we need to keep it simple and hopefully effective. Our two goals were not pretty, but it was an effective tactic.
A massive generalisation of our loyal fan base, IMO. You could say that about any ‘fanbase’ and ours is no better or worse than most.
Highlights if needed - about 5 seconds of it for the first half!! Match Report - QPR 2 - 2 Brentford | 27 Nov 2017 http://www.skysports.com/football/qpr-vs-brentford/report/374843
Not posted on here for many a year but have had to come on here after hearing that nonsense from olly . The paying public and faithful have every right to do what they like . People are leaving early or not going at all as his style of football is shocking . His constant team changes make no sense and his inability to learn from his mistakes frustrating . We are so predictable to play against it’s ridiculous. That’s why we can’t beat the teams around us, for example I bet u can all tell me how we set up for corners !! Same every bloody week . Don’t turn in the fans olly . They seem to be your only game plan !
Respect the club, respect the fans. You expect us to support you through bad situations - don’t disrespect those that turn up on a freezing cold Monday, at the beginning of their working week, and leave a little early, to deal with transport home, having seen an abject performance at home. Good to see some guts at the end to scrape a point. Would prefer us to show some guts and scrape a win and gain two points instead of one though. Thought Robinson was our MotM - but would probably only scored him 6.5 out of 10 - that says it all for the nights performance.
