Are we really saying the best defender currently available that would move to us is Bramble? If so thats pretty grim
Interestingly I thought the same...that he was a poor defender and not what we need. I then had a look on the Sunderland board and this thread (link below) shows most thinking he's been very decent for them and would be a loss. Although the thread does go on about his 'other' activities also. Interesting that as none of them actually say he is bad. In fact most of them like him as a player. Contrast that to the comments there would be on here if AF was going the other way.

Nope, 3 times now. Again, he is a very good defender and will be the best you have. He's just a horrible rapist who I don't want anywhere near our club.
Sadly he is not a good defender and is not better than what we have. I think you need to watch a bit more football because you obviously know s###.
Reminds me of the plaudits given to Barton when his transfer here was being mooted; all the Toon fans were saying how great a player he was, inspiration in the dressing-room, digging deep for the side etc etc. Then when we signed him, on they came saying they were glad to be rid of the c*nt! Hope we can find someone without any type of history.
