Even at £4 million where will you get a mid 20s premier league defender of his quality from for less ?.
With you there South Coast Ranger. If we're getting Anton for £1m, I'd say we're getting a very good deal. 26 y/o. Experienced EPL player. CB and coverage for full back if needed. Don't think he's £4m player (not with one year left), but £1m? Sure, good signing. What do you guys want? We were shopping in the 'Pound Shop' a few weeks ago!! Incredible! Really incredible!
In for Ferdinand Jnr and the latest is that Stoke have failed to sign Peter Crouch so we may be in for him too. No more on Dann going to Blackburn, maybe we could still nick him from Brum. Is Colin waiting until the last day? Is he banking on a few last minute jitters and midnight faxes? Owen Hargreaves to Man City? Is this 1st of April by any chance? Or do they need a boot cleaner?
Has never really set he prem alight. snderland overpaid West Ham for him and I am sure that whu fans weren't disappointed when he went. Would prefer Danns and / or Rudgewell
Wouldn't say that AF was the man in mind for a commanding centre back if get for £1m would say it's good business. Am a little worried about us giving out big contracts hope the finances have been sorted & we don't end up in a lot of debt.
Sunderland Echo Sunderland’s Anton Ferdinand in possible £4m deal with Queens Park Rangers ANTON Ferdinand will be allowed to decide his own fate today after Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers agreed a possible £4million move for the defender. Sunderland see it as an excellent bit of business to be able to get back half of the £8m that former manager Roy Keane originally paid for the West Ham centre-half in 2008. Ferdinand is in the last year of his contract and could look to move on for nothing from January so to get back so much money for him at this stage of his contract is an excellent deal for the Black Cats. Ironically, the 26-year-old has played some of the best football of his Sunderland career this season and has won praise for his performances in all the game he has been involved in. But Titus Bramble and Michael Turner will have the edge on him when they are fit again and Sunderland have made no move to offer him a new contract. To newly-promoted QPR, his value is obvious. They would not see £4m as paying over the odds for a young defender approaching his prime with plenty of Premier League experience. The final decision will be Ferdinand’s and today he was still mulling over the offer but sources close to the player believe he will become a QPR player by the end of today. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sund....ngers_1_3727570
How fickle are you lot! You were playing Championship football this time last year, and now you are signing an established versatile Premiership defender. Get a grip!!!!
I agree Teeside, just because we have some money, doesnt mean we can buy Piquet, we need players IN DEFENCE. with PREMIERSHIP experience. Ferdinand is both of these, Swords, stop being miserable.

Not my first choice out of our perspective Centrals but still a good signing which I'm happy with. Good stuff
Sunderland have now demanded more money ... effing chancers. Deal maybe off, especially if QPR can get Bassong instead.
10:47 and clock ticking. Looks like some hard bargaining going on and some heels being dug in. Maybe we should have stumped up to pull Danns or Ridgewell our way!
