I'd prefer Harry Roberts up front.

As other posters have pointed out, this is paper talk and Jason Roberts is no more likely to sign than all the other strikers linked with us this week. I understand the papers generate this guff to fill the void created by boring international breaks, I wonder whether NW and Fernandes should be fuelling it by bragging about their January shopping spree? The current team are starting to play well. No one expected Clint Hill to have a bigger part to play this season than Taarabt; but he, HH, Faurlin and Shaun Derry have shown the spirit of last year's team is essential alongside the 'upgrades' bought before and after the owners changed. We need more players, I just wonder whether the numbers of January recruits being talked about could destabilise us at a time when the team finally looks a good balance of graft and skill?

    Bang bloody on
But I still believe that a couple of deals have been done ... A lot of unhappy talent sitting on benches in North London I expect just 2/3 signings and the same to make way

Spot on. Don't think he's better than Bothroyd to be honest.

Defoe would be a huge signing for us though.

    Two words: Massively underwhelmed!

Guess the shoe's on the other foot as well, he wouldn't join a year ago, don't need him now. Won't happen.

And by the way, Defoe would be a bad signing anyway. He don't have the ability to score "easy" goals, it's either top corner rockets or row Z. To much hit and miss for my liking.
Andy Johnson though, a natural goal poacher with a hard work rate, exactly in the NW mould.

To be honest, if we got in say Bassong and another attacking midfielder in the calibre of Shaun Wright-Phillips (Ps Puncheon, although didn’t get much of a chance last Saturday, was a completely pointless signing in my opinion and think Ephraim could do a much better job than him as an impact sub) I think that would be enough to keep us up. If Bothroyd and Helguson can keep it up (3 goals in a match and a half playing together up front!) then I think we could survive not getting a striker, although would prefer to get someone for options sake and injuries

    Opinionated rant over

Everyone seems to rate Bassong - I don't really know who da f*k he is beacause when I can be bothered to look at Tottenham he is never playing for them! What is it with a defender that doesn't seem to be good enough to play for Spurs, who don't have the best defensive record in the PL either, that makes him such a hot target apparently for us?

Because when he plays a lot of games he's one of the best defenders around. He was brilliant at Newcastle
